Rescue Dog Is Gifted With A Yard For The First Time In His Life
It's hard to believe that some dogs live their entire lives without a plentiful yard of grass to roll in, relieve themselves in, and lounge in. Dogs are notoriously known for their affection for the green stuff.
Anyway, sometimes the grass is greener on the other side of the fence because, well, they actually have grass and you do not. And when it comes to dogs, that matters.
KaTarra Taylor first adopted her beloved Bentley, who is a bloodhound, and she was determined to do everything in her power to give him the life he deserved. Plus more, of course, as every dog deserves the world.
Yet, she continually ran into issues; no landlord would accept her application to rent because of Bentley's large size. Bloodhounds can be 23-27 inches tall and weigh over 100 pounds easily. After encountering these issues, KaTarra knew just what to do.
“I bought a townhouse in 2018 because no one would rent to me with a dog Bentley’s size,” she admitted in an interview with Bored Panda.
She then spoke of how happy her dog Bentley is now after her decision to own instead of rent: “He loves wherever we are because I’m there as well.”
Meet Bentley boy.

Shortly after their big move, KaTarra's boyfriend and his pup-pal joined them. Now, as a big happy family, KaTarra decided she wanted to give Bentley another huge surprise.
Her original post, with the big announcement.

From hard concrete...

To a luscious soft lawn.

But it didn't come without a lot of back-breaking hard work first.

Bentley's wonderful human knew just how much he enjoyed hanging out in the grass, especially when they would go for walks or visit the park. She often saw him lying in any grass he could find.
So, KaTarra set her plan in motion. Looking to her boyfriend Nick for help, the duo set out to turn their hard concrete patio into a yard that their pups could love and adore, especially since Bentley had never really had one of his own before.
In fact, it only cost them $400 to complete.

And they did so in a single day.

After they ripped out all of the concrete and moved each piece away...

In came the soil...

And then the luscious sod grass.

"Bentley loves his little grassy area. We've even added a canvas shade for him. Nick really went above and beyond on this project."
Talk about perfection. What a blessed boy he is!

You can see the gratitude all over his face!

Once Bentley noticed what was waiting for him outside, he went straight to the perfect spot and lay down there for several hours. It has since become his favorite spot.
As much as it brings Bentley joy, it should help tremendously with his anxiety issues as well. He may struggle, but KaTarra said he has gotten better every day. The reason for this improvement is certainly clear.
On top of all the love Bentley receives, he has really come a long way from where the pair first began.
Such a sweet boy.
