A Heartwarming Moment When A Rescued Blind Elephant Is Happily Welcomed By The Herd In A Sanctuary
Ploy Thong’s first moments at Elephant Nature Park in Chiang Mai turned into something unforgettable. The rescued blind elephant, who had spent years working in a circus and carrying tourists in Thailand, was finally meeting a herd that would greet her with patience instead of pressure.
She had lived through a hard life before volunteers from the Save Elephant Foundation brought her to safety. Once she arrived at the sanctuary, the gentle giant began sending low vibrations to let the other elephants know she was near, and their response was immediate.
What happened next was the kind of welcome that stays with you. Read on.
Here is the gentle giant, Ploy Thong!

Not long after her arrival at the sanctuary, a particular scene was heartwarming to witness: the moment the herd welcomed Ploy Thong.

Totally unable to see, Ploy Thong began to send low vibrations to inform the group of elephants that she was nearby. What occurred next was one of the most heartwarming scenes I have ever witnessed, as the entire herd walked down to her and offered the rescued blind elephant a touch of their endless compassion.
A staff member from the Save Elephant Foundation mentioned that with both of her eyes blind, she carried tourists every day. "She was saddled early each morning and carried tourists until sunset. She did this by using her trunk to sniff the route while the rider sat on her back, but little did she know that her journey to freedom had begun."
That welcome said everything without a single word.
It also reminded me of how Mila, a solitary former circus elephant, finally reunited with another elephant after 37 years in this reunion video with Mila and her long-lost herd mate.
The endearing moment was caught on camera!
She was lonely for most of her life, but the elephant received the warmest greeting from the herd at the sanctuary.

Watch the endearing moment below:
It only took a couple of minutes for the elephant to realize that she had arrived at a place where she found the affection and solace she had never experienced before.
It’s often said that we don’t know the value of what we have until we lose it, and this is quite true. We can only imagine what it would feel like to lose the sense of sight, to be aware that one would never see the light of day.
Then you might understand the plight of this elephant, who was still burdened with the responsibility of carrying tourists around in her visually impaired state.
Her rescue made the difference, and the sanctuary did the rest.
For a reunion that hits even harder, watch Shirley and Jenny recognize each other after 22 years apart in their former circus bond.
