Rescued Wild Cat Loves Playing With And Cuddling Fennel
Don't we all love animals?! Their adorable habits may not make sense to us, but they are certainly fun to watch.
Meet T'challa, a playful bobcat who loves to play and cuddle with vegetables, especially fennel.
Surprised?!
T'challa was rescued by some people when he was a small baby. He was found lying in the driveway of someone's home. It was strange to find a baby wild cat in the middle of someone's house's entrance.
From his injuries, it was deduced that he was probably picked up by a hawk and dropped in the driveway.
Upon seeing his injuries, the people who rescued him immediately took him to a vet. He was later transferred to For Fox Sake Wildlife Rescue for better care.
The executive director of For Fox Sake Wildlife Rescue, Juniper Russo, shared T'challa's story, saying, “I specialize in caring for predators, so they contacted me to rehabilitate him. The goal, of course, was to release him back into the wild.”
Considering his injuries, Russo realized that T'challa may not be able to return to the wild. It would be cruel to send him back there.
Since he came to them when he was a baby, he could not learn the survival skills needed to live in the wild. Instead, he developed the habits of domestic cats.
Though he looks like a wild bobcat, he is extremely goofy and playful.
Discussing T'challa's habits, Russo said, “He is incredibly silly and funny. Most bobcats have a very high prey drive and start lunging and darting toward movement and shaking their food before their eyes even open.”
He further added, “He didn’t develop those instincts the way a normal bobcat would. Still, he is not a house cat. He marks everything he owns, and he can be very defensive of his food, toys, and territory. I can’t overemphasize how inappropriate he would be as a house pet.”

One fine day, Russo was carrying fresh produce for other animals when he passed by T'challa. All of a sudden, T'challa wanted what Russo was carrying.
“I handed him a fennel bulb, expecting that he would realize he didn’t want it after all, and I was surprised when he grabbed it, snuggled it, and brought it to bed with him,” Russo said.

Although T'challa does not eat vegetables, as he is a wild cat, he likes them as toys. He enjoys playing with them but has never tried to eat them.
He plays and cuddles with the fennel like any other cat would with a teddy bear or any other toy.
T'challa gets extremely excited when Russo brings him fennel.

“He cuddles with it, rubs against it, and brings it to his bed to sleep with it,” Russo shared.
“When he has multiple fennel bulbs at one time, he sometimes puts the extras into his toy cache to save for later.”
Only a wild bobcat like T'challa can make a toy out of a vegetable.

Some people saw the posts of T'challa playing with the fennel and his love for it, and they were extremely amused.
They made sure that he gets as much fennel as he likes, which makes T'challa even more excited.
Although T'challa is quite different from the other cats, being a wild bobcat, he certainly enjoys his time running and playing around at the rescue while still being a wild cat.
Plus, he gets a lot of fennel there too.
