Cats are lovely pets to have around our homes at any time. In fact, they are among the best companions because they never fail to fill our lives with humor, drama, and love.
One remarkable thing about our furry friends is their flexibility; they can fit themselves into tiny places we can’t imagine can accommodate them. Sometimes, they get trapped in these small spots that are unsafe for them. When this happens, there is an urgent need to rescue them from such perilous situations.
For a tiny kitten trapped in a fender in Ionia, Michigan, Independence Day meant freedom. The brave officers arrived just in time to save the helpless creature from dehydration and the scorching heat inside the car.
As is common practice on public holidays, officers within the Ionia Department of Public Safety anticipated an emergency situation. However, they expected to receive calls about fireworks rather than an animal rescue for a little cat trapped in the engine of a car.
Officers Chris Flanders, Randy Dankenbring, and Mike Cronk rushed to the scene after a concerned citizen reported hearing a kitten crying from inside a vehicle. They heard the cat meow and cry out several times.
As soon as the officers arrived, they realized there was a furry animal trapped inside. However, since they didn't know what it was, they decided to remove pieces of the fender to identify the animal.

The tiny kitten was dehydrated due to the high temperature of 93 degrees that day, and the officers assumed it had been there for hours. The cat appeared to have been in the vehicle for several hours and had traveled an unknown distance, but it seemed to be many miles.
It was disheveled, sluggish, and filthy from being in the wheel well.

The deputies gave the little cat some water, and it quickly began to recover. They did, however, take it to a local shelter for further examination after naming the tiny animal Turbo—a fitting name.
