Rescued Owl Shows Gratitude Through Endless Hugs for Her Lifesaver

Through the dedicated efforts of compassionate individuals at Mississippi’s Wild at Heart Rescue, GiGi’s story unveils the power of resilience and the profound bond between humans and animals. In late May, GiGi arrived at Wild at Heart Rescue, bearing the scars of a traumatic ordeal believed to have been caused by a collision with a car.
Under the care of Missy Dubuisson, the founder and director of the rescue, GiGi embarked on a challenging path toward recovery, facing obstacles such as head trauma, parasites, and a debilitating condition akin to pneumonia.
However, amidst the trials and tribulations, a beacon of hope emerged in the form of Douglas “Doug” Pojeky, affectionately known as the “birds of prey whisperer” and the president of the rescue. Pojeky’s unwavering dedication and unique connection with these magnificent creatures proved instrumental in GiGi’s miraculous turnaround.
Under Pojeky’s watchful eye, GiGi defied the odds, transitioning from a fragile state of dependency to regaining her strength and independence. From hand-fed meals to perching proudly once again, GiGi’s progress mirrored the profound impact of personalized care and nurturing.
