Hannah Foraker, an Army Pvt., and her dog, Buddy, have always been close and inseparable companions. So, you can imagine how challenging it was for both of them when they had to spend a few months apart.
The young woman told Today that it was a significant experience for her because she had never traveled away from home before. "It’s truly a character-building experience and makes you appreciate the little things in life," she added.

The woman, who was 21 years old, enlisted in the Army and, throughout three months of basic training, was away from her family. Everyone was eager to watch Buddy's response to seeing Hannah after all this time because the two had never spent so long apart before.
Hannah told ABC News that when she got home, they let Buddy out, and at first, he didn't realize she was there.
"Then, she did a double-take and came back to me. That’s when she started crying and whimpering. She was so excited. She just collapsed in pure happiness…"
