Animal Shelter Hosts Senior Prom to Aid Elderly Dogs Find a Loving Forever Home
When many people think of a senior prom, they imagine a room full of teenagers in formal attire. But what about the elderly dogs looking for a loving home? Maricopa County Animal Care and Control in Phoenix, Arizona, decided to host an event just for them!
The shelter's senior K-9 residents were dressed up in their finest attire and met with potential adopters who came out to support the cause. It not only helped the dogs have a good time, but it also raised awareness about senior dogs in need of families to take them in.
Older dogs often have a more difficult time finding forever homes, as they are less likely to be adopted compared to younger animals. However, they are no less deserving of a loving family to spend the rest of their days with.
The prom featured senior dogs, seven years and older.

As part of the event, the dogs competed for prom king and queen honors by walking down a runway in high fashion.

Even better, these furry seniors had prom dates to pose with.

...all thanks to the dedicated and amazing volunteers at the shelter.

As many as nine senior dogs were adopted on the spot!

That's a big win for everyone!
