Animal Shelter Hosts Senior Prom to Aid Elderly Dogs Find a Loving Forever Home
Senior prom usually brings to mind teenagers, corsages, and a packed dance floor, but one Arizona animal shelter gave the tradition a very different twist. This time, the stars of the night were older dogs hoping for a second chance at love.
Maricopa County Animal Care and Control in Phoenix hosted a prom-style event for its senior K-9 residents, dressing them up and introducing them to potential adopters. The goal was simple, give these dogs a fun day out while shining a spotlight on how many senior pets are still waiting for homes.
And for several of them, the celebration turned into something even better than a dance.
The prom featured senior dogs, seven years and older.

As part of the event, the dogs competed for prom king and queen honors by walking down a runway in high fashion.

Even better, these furry seniors had prom dates to pose with.

It was a sweet setup for dogs who often get overlooked.
