Exceptionally Unique Series of Photographs Reveals Dogs' Emotions While Being Left Behind in the Car
If you haven't heard of him, allow us to introduce you to the outstanding work of photographer Martin Usborne. His series of photographs called The Silence of Dogs in Cars is one of a kind.
The pictures look straight out of a cinema screen, and they are beautifully shot, revealing all the emotions of the dogs sitting inside the cars in these images. An animal lover, Usborne relates this specific series of photographs to his personal childhood trauma of being left alone in the car as a child. Although it was not for a long time, it left a mark on his memory.
Recalling the experience, he shares:
“I was once left in a car at a young age. I don’t know when or where or for how long—possibly at the age of four, perhaps outside a supermarket, probably for only fifteen minutes. The details don’t matter. The point is that I wondered if anyone would come back. The fear I felt was strong: in a child’s mind, it is possible to be alone forever.”
He further added:
“Around the same age, I began to feel a deep affinity with animals—in particular, their plight at the hands of humans.”
This series holds deep meaning, relating to the fear of abandonment.
“What I didn’t expect was to see so many subtle reactions from the dogs: some sad, some expectant, some angry, some dejected. It was as if, upon opening a box of gray-colored pencils, I was surprised to see so many shades inside.”
Some of these pictures are also quite funny; not all are heart-wrenching. If you want to see more of Usborne's work, visit here: Website Facebook
