The Poor Street Puppy Was So Starved He Couldn’t Walk, And Now He Is Healthy And Happy
When passersby noticed a sick dog on the street in India, they immediately contacted Animal Aid Unlimited. The puppy, later named Sparkle, didn't have much chance of survival.
The street puppy lay still in the mud. However, the adorable, kind-hearted puppy managed to gather some strength to wag his tail when he saw humans coming to help him.
Animal Aid Unlimited wrote: "When we first saw this skinny puppy, it looked like he had been hit by a car, but then his neighbors told us that he had stopped eating and suddenly was unable to stand."
Rescuers gently lifted Sparkle and carried him to the hospital.
"We determined from his nasal discharge, diarrhea, and loss of appetite that he probably had canine distemper, a virus that can be fatal and for which there is no direct treatment. Because distemper sufferers often develop what’s called secondary pneumonia, we gave him preventive antibiotics and were so happy that he began eating within the first day."
And this was the beginning of a difficult journey for the poor dog. But thanks to good care and much love, he managed to recuperate. It is a wonderful and inspiring story. Take a look:
Sparkle was found on the street.

He was starved and so weak he couldn't even walk.

People from Animal Aid Unlimited came to help him.

They gently picked him up.

But Sparkle needed more than just good food.
"He was so sensitive that it seemed like love was as important to him as food itself, and we wondered if his condition could have improved without it. He didn’t stand for quite a few days, and when he did, he seemed to be propelled by his will to give love," Animal Aid Unlimited wrote.
He was given a proper medical exam. The vets concluded that the puppy probably had canine distemper. He was given antibiotics to fight secondary infections.

India has an estimated population of 35-40 million stray dogs, according to the Times of India. A survey released by Mars Petcare India indicates that India has the highest rate of relinquishment among countries like the United States, China, and Germany, with an estimated 79.9 million homeless cats and dogs living in shelters or on the streets.
The poor thing had no coordination or strength to stand.

With good food and much love, the dog's condition started to improve.

On day 7, he started physiotherapy.

And soon, he made his first unassisted steps.

Sparkle is now happy and healthy.

Thanks to the kind people from Animal Aid Unlimited, who gave him a lot of love, he is on the road to full recovery.

Sparkle's bravery is inspiring to watch. The progress he made in just a few weeks is amazing. However, it wouldn't have been possible without the love and care he received from the people of Animal Aid Unlimited.
We wish him all the best and hope he will find a loving home. We also hope the charity will continue to do such good work.
