Man Finds Starving Dog On Secluded Island And Saves His Life
Wesley White thought he was heading out for a scenic kayaking trip in Belize, but the day quickly turned into a rescue mission he would never forget.
While exploring a small island in Thatch Caye, the photographer spotted a friendly dog near an abandoned fishing shack and immediately realized the animal was in bad shape. The pup was starving, alone, and clearly not going to make it much longer without help.
What happened next turned a quiet island outing into a heartwarming story of survival, and it all started with one very lucky tail wag.
While out on a kayaking trip to a remote island, Wesley found a starving dog in need of urgent care.

Wesley knew the dog was unlikely to survive another day alone on the island, so he put him in the kayak and took him back to the hotel where he was staying.

That was the moment the trip stopped being about sightseeing.
The tiny dog was terrified.
Unfortunately, Wesley couldn't stay with the dog for long, as he was due to leave Belize in 36 hours. So, he asked the vet to keep him updated on the dog's condition.

Before long, the vet told Wesley that the dog was recovering well and would soon be ready to go into foster care. After just two months in a foster home, the dog was ready to be reunited with Wesley!

Things started looking up fast after that.
It also echoes the abandoned airport-bathroom dog with a note from his owner after escaping abuse.
Some wonderful people cared for the dog and ensured that he was fed and given much-needed medical attention.

Wesley arranged for the dog to be flown to Dallas, and the pair have been inseparable ever since. The pup now has a name, too—it's Winston!

Winston's story had a much happier ending than anyone could have hoped for.
What an incredible journey this sweet pup has been on! He is looking healthier every day.

Winston is now happily enjoying his new life with Wesley. He is fed, healthy, happy, and thriving in his new home!
What a great story of how fate can so effortlessly bring two souls together! Wesley was in the right place at the right time to save Winston.
If Wesley hadn't decided to go kayaking that day, chances are Winston would not have survived. We don't even want to think about that!
Well done, Wesley! And, Winston, we wish you the best and happiest life ever!
