Stray Cat Shows Up On A Window Asking For Help, And It’s Heartbreaking
A stray cat named Carlton kept showing up at the same window day after day, and the teenager inside the house never turned him away. She fed him, gave him treats, and slowly earned his trust until he started coming inside like he belonged there.
Then, in May, everything changed. Carlton was crying outside, and the teen noticed a gash behind his ear, which led her and her sister to reach out to Little Wanderers NYC for help. What happened next showed just how much this scruffy visitor had come to depend on them.
Now Carlton is getting care, but finding him a forever home may be the hardest part.

It’s been the worst rescue season on record, and Little Wanderers says the calls just keep coming for kittens, mothers, and sick or injured animals.

The family gave Carlton to Scroggins, who took him to the vet. There, they treated Carlton’s ear and discovered that he was FIV-positive. It’s a virus very common in stray cats, especially males, as they often get into fights over food and territory.
The FIV-positive diagnosis created another problem. Even though it won’t affect Carlton’s health with proper treatment, it makes finding him a home more difficult. This is due to a common misconception that FIV-positive and FIV-negative felines cannot share a home.
It echoes Simba, the abandoned shop cat, who was left behind but still got a second chance.

But Carlton deserves a loving home after all he has endured while living on the streets.
With every single person he’s met so far, he’ll just plop on your lap or headbutt you until you give him pets. He just loves humans so much, and it’s adorable.
The ideal home for Carlton would be with humans who can provide him attention and care, and where he would be the only cat. Luckily, Carlton isn’t too picky when it comes to humans.
He warms up immediately, he loves everyone, and he’s very snuggly. He’s a big boy, too. He’s like a big cuddly mountain lion.

If you want to make Carlton and yourself very happy, you can apply for adoption here.
Carlton’s next chapter is still waiting to be written.
