Stray, Disabled Dogs Are Given A Chance To Freely Run To Their Hearts' Content In An Elephant Sanctuary, And It's Truly Heartwarming
Some rescue stories hit harder than others, and this one is all about dogs who finally got the chance to move freely again.
At Thailand's Elephant Nature Park, rescued elephants are not the only animals getting a second chance. The sanctuary is also home to more than 400 rescued dogs, including 32 disabled dogs who lost their legs because of neglect, abuse, and accidents.
With help from the Save Elephant Foundation team, these strays now have shelter, food, comfort, and room to run. Read on.
This is one of the 32 disabled dogs housed in an elephant sanctuary in Thailand.

In the sanctuary, they are fed, loved, and cared for.

It is a lot of work, but the payoff is hard to miss.
According to one of the volunteers, caring for them is hard work, but it is also rewarding work.

The volunteers always make it a point to ensure that these dogs go out for walks.

That daily routine makes a big difference for them.
They are allowed to walk outside every day.
They're like normal dogs once they have their wheelchairs attached. As soon as they're in a wheelchair, they run at high speed.

People drop by the elephant sanctuary to visit these dogs as well.
They are happy dogs and love being with people.
The volunteer in the video says, "It's thanks to the efforts and passion of the volunteers, along with donations from people, that these dogs have the chance to live normally."

There are plenty of ways to help stray dogs, including disabled ones.
Dogs are given another chance at a good life through these dog shelters. There are many things we can do to help dog shelters, from donating money and supplies to volunteering our time.
Dog shelters are always in need of donations, especially food, toys, and blankets. You can find a list of the shelter's most needed items on their website or social media page.
One of the best ways to help a dog shelter is to adopt one of the dogs living there. Not only will you be giving a dog a loving home, but you'll also be freeing up space for another dog in need.
Talk to your friends and family about the importance of dog shelters and how they can help. Share pictures and stories of the dogs you've met at the shelter on social media.
If you have some time to spare, you can also volunteer at one. Many dog shelters are always looking for volunteers to help with cleaning, walking dogs, and playing with the animals.
These dogs are finally getting the life they deserved.
