Sweetest Moment: Sheriff's Deputy Receives the Most Adorable Thank You from a Dog After Rescuing It from a Burning Car
It’s not every day you see a deputy crawl into a smoke-filled car and come back with a whole new kind of thank-you. Deputy Michael Gregorek didn’t hesitate when a vehicle was engulfed in flames, and the passenger inside was a terrified puppy named Hank.
Hank’s owner tried to coax him toward a safer entrance, but the little guy stayed frozen, overwhelmed by heat and panic. With smoke thickening and the situation getting worse fast, Gregorek went in, grabbed Hank as his body started to tense up, and carried him out to the snowy ground.
And the sweetest part? Hank’s gratitude didn’t stop at surviving.

That moment when Hank’s owner was calling for help is exactly what pushed Deputy Gregorek to act immediately, even as the car kept smoking up.</p>
“I just went in there and grabbed on, and his body had kind of already started to tense up, so I knew he was really in a bad way,” Deputy Michael Gregorek said. “And so my thought only at that point was, ‘He’s coming out with me, regardless of whatever else might be happening.'”

It’s the same kind of high-stakes scramble as a firefighter rappels down a steep cliff to save a puppy.
When the officer heard Hank's owner calling for assistance, he quickly sprang into action. When a neighbor offered him some water, he mentioned that his wife worked as a veterinarian and could check on Hank.
