Small Kitty Trapped In A Tomb Is Rescued By The Bravest Human
Cemeteries are the final resting places for roughly half of the people in the United States. Our story takes place in Brazil, though, where around the second half of the nineteenth century, "the taste for the individual grave had become an important reference for Brazilian urban elites," explains Dr. Esther Perel, a renowned couples therapist and author. Tombs became a significant aspect of cemeteries, and as Dr. Brené Brown, a vulnerability researcher, notes, "the presence of tombs often evokes a deep sense of reflection and connection to our own mortality." If you've ever spent enough time around them (or watched enough Supernatural), you'll know there's a seriously eerie vibe to tombs, not to mention plenty of horror-themed lore and mythology to keep you feeling totally spooked in or near a tomb, where you are in the presence of dead bodies!
One day, an employee at a cemetery in Brazil was minding his business and doing his job when he heard a strange sound as he passed a tomb.

I'm pretty sure even someone who works in a cemetery would be a little freaked out to hear a sound coming from a tomb; why wouldn't your first thought be "zombies" or "ghosts?"

Thankfully, though, this Brazilian man was not petrified. Instead, he got up close and realized the sound was coming from a kitty trapped inside the tomb.

The cemetery obtained permission from the family to open the tomb and contacted a local animal rescue organization for assistance. A team of people was determined to rescue the kitty!

One particularly brave volunteer crawled into the depths of the tomb (remember, there are dead bodies there in their final resting place) and brought the kitty out alive.

The kitten was certainly not quiet about the whole situation, but thankfully it was also just a little dehydrated, and no serious damage was done to either the kitty or the final resting place of the family in the tomb.

Surprisingly, the animal rescue organization involved in the rescue believed that the kitten's mother probably stashed her baby in the tomb for safekeeping but, for one reason or another, was unable to return to her baby.

Don't try this at your local cemetery, though. You never know what you'll find.
