Seeking A Home: Rare 'Werewolf Cat' In Need Of Adoption
Fern looks like she stepped out of a horror movie and then decided she still wanted cuddles. This “werewolf cat” is a super rare Lykoi kitty, and with only around 200 known worldwide, she is basically a limited edition spooky companion trying to find her forever people.
Her story got complicated fast when Fern’s previous owner had to go into care, and she ended up at Cats Protection in Warrington, Cheshire. Even though Fern’s a sweet girl, her unique fur, her cautious first impressions, and the shelter stress have kept interest low, so she’s now staying with a fosterer where she’s finally blossomed.
And yes, she’s dealing with a cleared-up ear infection and a small cyst on her head, but the real mystery is why nobody has claimed her yet.

A super rare "werewolf" kitty named Fern is in search of a new family. With her spooky appearance, Fern belongs to the rare Lykoi breed, with only about 200 known individuals worldwide. Unfortunately, Fern found herself at Cats Protection in Warrington, Cheshire, after her previous owner had to go into care. Despite her unique looks, Fern hopes to find someone who will love and cherish her.

When Fern arrived at Cats Protection in Warrington after her owner went into care, the “werewolf” look was the headline, but the stress of the shelter was the real plot twist.
These cats have earned the moniker "werewolf cats" due to their distinctive appearance. Their fur presents a peculiar blend of hairless patches interspersed with hairy ones. When these felines adopt specific postures, their fur tends to poof up, evoking the likeness of a werewolf.
That’s when Lindsay Kerr started urging anyone who can offer a calm home, especially one without other pets or young children buzzing around.
And if you think Fern’s scary looks are intense, wait until you hear about the family demanding rehoming for an aggressive rescue cat after their beloved pet went missing.
Lindsay Kerr, the manager of the adoption center, is reaching out to anyone who believes they could provide love and care to this "sweet" yet uniquely different-looking cat, urging them to step forward and express their interest.
Fern would thrive best in a tranquil home environment without other pets or young children bustling around. Lindsay disclosed, "Sadly, Fern hasn't attracted much interest thus far, despite being a genuinely sweet girl. The shelter environment has proven stressful for her, so she's now staying with one of our fosterers, where she's truly blossomed."

After Fern got treatment for an ear infection that cleared up quickly, she started showing her softer side, even if she still needs a slow intro to feel safe.
"Fern is seeking a tranquil home environment as she tends to be a bit cautious at first. Upon her arrival, she underwent treatment for an ear infection, which responded well to treatment and cleared up promptly.
Additionally, she has a small cyst on her head, but our veterinarian has reassured us that it is not a cause for concern. Despite these minor health issues, Fern is a resilient and sweet-natured cat who deserves a loving and understanding family to provide her with the care and attention she needs to thrive."

And now that Fern is thriving with a fosterer, it feels like the only thing left is finding the right family who will appreciate her strange, fluffy-in-the-right-poses beauty.
"I am confident that Fern will become an exceptional companion for the right individual who values her distinctive traits and appreciates her unique beauty. Despite facing challenges, Fern possesses a gentle and loving nature, making her an ideal companion for someone seeking a special connection with their furry friend."

"I am optimistic that Fern will be an excellent companion for the right person who appreciates her unique characteristics. Despite her initial wariness and minor health concerns, Fern possesses a sweet and loving disposition that is sure to bring joy to her future family.
Since Fern was introduced, we have received an outpouring of affection and support. Many individuals have expressed their love for her with heart emojis and comments such as, 'I love her.' This overwhelming response highlights Fern's appeal and the potential for her to bring happiness to a loving home.
It's heartening to witness the positive reception Fern has received, and we hope it leads to her finding a caring and understanding family who will appreciate her for the special cat she is."
Fern is already showing she can be an amazing companion, so the question is, who’s brave enough to adopt the real-life werewolf cat?
