Wolf Dog Goes On Grand Adventures Instead Of Being Locked Away
Some dogs are happiest with a backyard and a bowl of kibble, but Loki was never built for that kind of life. This wolf-dog has spent years tagging along on snowy trails, mountain trips, and backcountry adventures with his owner, Kelly Lund, turning an ordinary pet story into something much bigger.
Kelly, who grew up in California's Redwood Forest and now lives outside Denver, Colorado, has always felt most at home outdoors. Loki, a husky, arctic wolf, and malamute mix, became the perfect partner for that lifestyle, and the two quickly built a following by sharing their trips online.
With millions watching their adventures, Loki's story keeps getting bigger, and the next photo is never far away. Read on.

"During a blizzard in 2012, I brought Loki home. Loki is a husky/arctic wolf/malamute mix. Growing up in a family that took dog ownership very seriously, I had my fair share of experiences with large dogs. However, Loki was different. Instead of him entering my world, I felt like I had to listen closely and enter his world if this was going to work out," Kelly says.
He continued, "At that time, I decided that I would do everything possible to avoid leaving him behind at home. We started backcountry snowboarding together when he was four months old, and before his third birthday, he had seen most of the western U.S."

Kelly says that he never took photography seriously until recently.
"I once heard it said that pictures have a funny way of becoming more valuable over time. The photos we create are the pages in our journal. Loki and I hope to inspire others to get out, explore their world, and make memories with their pups."
For those who would prefer a hard-copy photo, there is also a photo book available.

Kelly’s “don’t leave me behind” mindset feels like the woman who hiked Nepal’s mountains with her dogs for 18 days.

Akela might look like “the world’s largest wolf,” but see why he’s gentle.
