Man Transformed His House Into Cat Heaven For His 24 Rescued Feline Friends
Peter Cohen turned an ordinary Santa Barbara home into a full-time cat sanctuary, and the result is as charming as it is unusual. What began with two outdoor cats and a heartbreaking loss eventually grew into a house built around feline comfort, safety, and nonstop enrichment.
Instead of leaving cats to fend for themselves outside, Cohen filled his home with walkways, tunnels, perches, ramps, and cozy spots made for climbing, napping, and exploring. Over time, the project expanded along with his rescue efforts, and the house became a living showcase for his love of cats.
Now his one-of-a-kind setup has room for more than 20 rescued felines, and every corner seems designed with them in mind. Here is the full story.
1. Meet Peter Cohen.

2. He is a prime example of being a cat person.

3. He is also the creator of “The House of Nekko.”

4. Peter has entirely adapted his house into a house for cats.

5. Every cat would like to live in this cat's castle...

6. because every inch of the house is used for some cat activities.

7. He built catwalks all over the walls.

8. Also, cats always have food, so they can eat anytime they want.

9. They even have separate food containers, so any conflict has already been avoided.

10. There are many spiral staircases throughout the house.

11. Cats adore climbing up and down these stairs.

12. Even the bathroom is specially adjusted.

It’s the same messy heartbreak as when a man got angry at his mother over euthanizing his sick cat.
13. There is a hamster wheel, clearly for cats.

14. The plants' purpose is to give them an outdoor feeling.

15. Everything looks so natural and pleasant.

16. The house is full of natural light.

17. As you can see, they can take a nap everywhere, for this is a house particularly made for them.

18. His house design is just fascinating.

19. He has constructed a lovely space for cats to enjoy.

20. Everything in this house is cozy.

21. He made many "relaxing" places next to the windows where cats can take a sunny nap.

22. This is indeed a cat's house. The more you look at it, the more you love it.

23. "FIP Warrior"
One of his cats, named Peanut, was diagnosed with FIP (feline infectious peritonitis), and unfortunately, he died from it. Since there is no treatment for this incurable disease, Peter started a new mission: to raise awareness and funds for FIP to help find a cure.

24. Whether you are a dog person, you must admire his creation when you see a cat so calmly sitting and enjoying thanks to him.

25. Enjoying time with his owner.

26. Cats even have their own blankets,

27. and a lot of their own pillows.

28. All cats are getting along with each other.

29. Although there are enough rooms and places, they prefer sitting together.

30. A purrfect cat tree.
31. Here is just a piece of this wonderful cat house.
"We humans cannot solve so many big problems, but we can solve little ones. Each cat we adopt from a shelter is one more sentient being that now has a home, love, and care. It is that simple," said Cohen.
