This Adorable Baby Seagull Thief Tried Stealing His Favorite Stuffed Fish From The Store Thinking It's A Real Fish
Dr. Lawrence Cohen, child psychologist, emphasizes the importance of play in children's development, stating, "Play is the way children learn about the world around them." In a charming incident, a baby seagull spotted a toy fish in a basket placed near the doorway of a local store and seemed to fall instantly in love with it, possibly mistaking it for a real fish. The truth is that the walleye that caught the baby seagull's attention was merely a stuffed toy. Unaware of this reality, the determined baby seagull was intent on claiming it as his own. Grey seagulls are a specialty in Port Clinton, Ohio, and this particular baby seagull was among the many grey seagull chicks born there, albeit the last to learn to fly.
The manager of Northern Exposure Candle Company, Kylie Gospodarek, shared, “He was just a late bloomer — there wasn’t anything wrong with him.”
She further added, “The rooftops of our town are notorious for seagulls breeding… and when the babies learn to fly for the first time, they don’t actually make it all the way, so they wander around the streets.”
Explaining the baby seagull's situation, she said, “He must’ve noticed the walleye, which looks realistic to him. The first time, he came into the store and grabbed the walleye, but he was shooed out of the store before making it out.”

The little thief didn't just give up after his first failed attempt, either.
His determination got the best of him, and he continued his attempts to steal the walleye. Eventually, he was successful on his fourth attempt.
Gospodarek recounted the event of the baby seagull's successful attempt, saying, “I had about six customers in with me, and they noticed him and were like, ‘Hey, is he supposed to be in here?’ I already knew who he was, so we ran around our displays to corral him out the door.”

“He just went for it and grabbed the fish, and he made it out the door on his fourth attempt,” Gospodarek said.
Gospodarek ran out, followed by the customers, to retrieve the walleye. They saw the baby bird clutching the fish tightly with his beak, standing in the middle of the road.
Together, they guided him to the sidewalk, where he finally let go of the toy. This video of his theft will definitely make you laugh and surprise you.

“A lot of people wanted me to give it to him, but I don’t think they realized he was trying to eat it,” Gospodarek remarked.
The story did not end here. The adorable thief remains on the lookout, stalking the store for another chance to steal his favorite fish again.
Gospodarek explained his ordeal, saying, “He’ll kind of walk in the door… and he’s like a little puppy dog. As soon as he sees me coming, he’ll turn his head and be like, ‘OK, I won't come in.’”
Poor birdie.
It has been a week since the baby seagull last showed up at the store.
Gospodarek is sure that by now the bird has learned to fly and has forgotten about the stuffed toy, considering he must have learned to catch real fish by now too.
