These Two Doggo Friends Have Spent 128 Days In A Shelter Because They Refuse To Be Adopted Separately
Sunny and Georgia have turned a shelter stay into a stubborn little love story. The two dogs have spent 128 days waiting for a home, and the reason is simple, they refuse to be adopted apart.
The pair came to the Arizona Humane Society after their human family could no longer care for them, and staff quickly saw how tightly bonded they are. Sunny is outgoing and adventurous, while Georgia is more cautious and follows her lead, which makes their connection even harder to break.
Now the shelter is hoping someone will take both dogs home together, because neither one seems willing to leave the other behind.

Although they are the best of friends, Georgia and Sunny are totally different, not just in size, but also in their personalities. Sunny is a 7-year-old American Staffordshire Terrier who loves meeting new people and is incredibly adventurous.
Georgia, on the other hand, is an 8-year-old Chihuahua, and she is much more reserved and cautious. She tends to let her sister take the lead and follows her everywhere. Even though they are so different, they are incredible together.
They love each other dearly and can't stand to be apart.

The connection between them is uncanny and was noticed right away by AHS staff when Georgia and Sunny were separated into two different yards during playtime one day. While in separate yards, the typically braver Sunny started to shake until she saw her sister in the opposite grass area. She ran over to the fence, put her paws up, and whined for her. Similarly, little Georgia did not start to warm up until she was reunited with her sister.
After the two were taken away from the only home they had ever known and their human family, they began to grow even closer to one another and rely on each other for comfort and stability.
They absolutely love playing together on the grass during the day and curling up with each other at night.
That separation test said everything.
This “we go together” story echoes the 17-year-old dog who hung on just long enough to meet her human sister, even as time ran out.

Although it has been an adjustment for both adorable pups, they know that as long as they have each other, everything will be just fine.
Because Sunny and Georgia have such an incredibly strong bond, they need to be adopted together; they truly thrive when they are close to each other. Now, because it's so difficult to find a home for one dog, it will be extremely challenging to find a home for them both.
That is why they have been waiting 128 days in the shelter for someone to adopt them.

They both just want a loving family who will take them in and love them endlessly. Sunny and Georgia would also really appreciate a big yard to run around in and chase each other until they can't anymore.

Anyone who has spent any amount of time with them knows that these two girls are very special and will make great and loving companions.
We certainly hope that these two beauties find a loving home quickly and that they will live out the remainder of their lives in a cocoon of love and happiness.
Some bonds are just impossible to break.
