17-Year-Old Adopted Dog Hangs On To Life, Just Long Enough To Meet Human Sister
Dogs are often regarded as the closest animals to human beings, and they’ve even earned the title of Man’s best friend. This is no mistake, as these canines aren’t just a delight to have around but are also one of the best health choices a person may ever make.
Owning a dog has multiple benefits, including decreased anxiety and improved cardiovascular health. It can also ease loneliness, encourage exercise and playfulness, and increase attractiveness.
Think about moments when you return home from a long day—the plan is to take a shower, eat, and just sink into your bed to ease the frustration. But upon your arrival, you meet your furry friend wagging its tail at the front door.
At that moment, the burden of the day is lifted off your shoulders. You feel joy... pure joy!
Unfortunately, it’s impossible to enjoy these benefits for as long as many would like because dogs don’t live as long as humans do. Although there is variation across breeds and sizes, dogs typically live between 7 and 20 years.
For example, smaller dogs often live over 15–16 years (sometimes longer than 20 years), medium and large-sized dogs live for 10 to 20 years, and some giant dog breeds often live for only 7 to 8 years.
Other factors, including living conditions, nutrition, exercise, and more, also determine a dog’s lifespan.
We found one dog who lived for seventeen years, which was just long enough for him to meet his human sister. How adorable!

The Cutest Gift Ever

A couple, Beth and Michael Clark, are known for regularly donating blankets to animal shelters during the winter to warm up stray dogs. On a fateful day, they visited Anne Arundel County Animal Control to donate blankets, but this time, they received a gift of their own.
“When I saw this gray-faced, bony dog, I told my husband, ‘We’re going to catch him,’” Beth said.
The couple took 17-year-old Rocky home with them. The dog was grieving; yet, they couldn’t help but fall in love with him.
Tough Times Ahead

Unfortunately, when Beth was seven months pregnant, the couple received news that Rocky might have a tumor. Soon after, their adorable dog’s health started to deteriorate.
A Dog That Will Forever Be Remembered

The day Beth and Michael brought their new baby home, Rocky was thrilled to meet her. He gave her a quick sniff and laid his head on her as a show of affection.
His condition didn’t improve, so the couple was left with no choice but to say goodbye to their cherished dog.
It will undoubtedly be challenging for this couple to forget their beautiful dog. And even though he didn’t get to spend a long time with his human sister, we bet they will tell her all about him when she’s old enough to understand.
The Clarks may have only spent a short time with Rocky, but we’re glad they adopted the precious dog. Without a doubt, they gave the dog the best few months of its life, and for that, we think they are pretty cool.
