This Cat's Reunion With A Blind Dog After A Month Apart Will Melt Your Heart
There is a lot of talk about the rivalry that exists between cats and dogs. Dogs and cats are often considered mutually exclusive, and they are not really a pair.
It turns out, though, that sometimes, dogs and cats overcome the stigma that we humans project onto them, and they can become incredibly close friends. Cross-animal relationships, aside from being really cute, are also an incredible reflection of the love that pets have for us, and most importantly, for each other.
Cats are usually thought of as being less needy and less dependent than dogs, and for that reason, you do not often associate them with being best friends with a dog. However, given the circumstances of this dog and cat’s friendship, it is no surprise that the cat has stepped into the role of protector and takes such good care of its doggy friend.
Sometimes, though, dogs and cats can overcome their respective barriers and become best friends. This is the story of two animals with very different levels of needs and attention, who have put their differences aside and become inseparable—until they had to spend some time apart and were devastated by it; check out what happens when they reunite!
Coco the dog sadly went blind when she was nine years old due to sudden acquired retinal degeneration syndrome (SARDS).
Ever since, for the last five years, her sibling, Jasper, hasn't left her side. The only real difference is that Jasper is a cat!
Jasper loves to be around Coco, and he is the perfect companion to guide her and take care of her. Their relationship is beautiful, and it really seems like Jasper has an emotional imperative to care for his best friend, Coco.
Recently, their arrangement was interrupted when their owner had to go away for work for a whole month. Because Coco is blind and has high needs, she went with their owner, while Jasper stayed behind to be taken care of by her daughter.

The whole month that they were apart, Jasper appeared to be heartbroken. He would stay by the back door, looking out for Coco, and always seemed to be anxiously pacing around, searching for his companion.
When they were finally reunited, it was one of the most beautiful things their owners had ever seen. It truly looked like they had an intense bond.

Check out the video below.
Luckily, their owners decided to film the moment so we could all share in their joy. It is clear that Jasper has realized what is happening and is super excited before the door has even opened.
It is so cute that Jasper ignores his humans to greet his dog buddy right away, and they have a super emotional reunion.
It can be hard to test the compatibility of cats and dogs scientifically because it is something that is highly dependent on the personalities of the different animals. Sometimes, cats and dogs are best friends, and other times, they definitely are not.
Dogs, when they aren't being too territorial, love the safety and security of being in a pack. But cats are more often described, ironically, as lone wolves.
Cats are often described as being more aloof compared with dogs, but they can be just as emotionally invested as dogs—they are just better at hiding it. This means that when dogs and cats manage to overcome this and share a beautiful bond, it can be one of the most powerful friendships in the world.
This story about a dog and a cat overcoming many obstacles to become friends is a powerful reminder of what is possible in the world. This dog, typically a protector, is instead incredibly vulnerable and is taken care of by its darling cat friend.
This dog and cat best friend combination represents a completely pure connection, and the time that they spent apart from each other must have been really hard for both of them—especially since pets don’t understand what is going on the way humans do. The video of their reunion is super cute, and it definitely warms your heart.
