Rescued Stray Kitten Fell Asleep In Cyclist's Backpack As Soon As He Realized He Was Safe
It must have been fate the day Matea was riding her bike on her way home. As she pedaled along the road, she noticed something on the side: a little ball of fluff.
She approached for a closer look and realized it was a tiny stray kitten. The kitten was all alone, wandering near a busy intersection, and the passersby had not noticed the poor kitty.
Even if there were people who probably saw him, no one bothered to stop and check on him. That's when Matea realized that the kitten needed help, and there was no one else to provide it except her.
Having a heart for animals, she decided to pull over and scoop up the kitten. As she held the poor creature in her palms, it seemed relaxed, as if grateful that someone finally noticed its existence.
There was no sign of protest from the kitten, nor any gesture that he would run away. That was when Matea understood that the kitten needed her help.
As she placed the kitty inside her backpack, he was a little fussy at first. But as soon as he realized he was safe, he fell asleep, and they were on their way to his forever home!

Finally asleep when he knew he was safe.
At first, he was a bit fussy when I put him in the backpack. Soon enough, he got cozy on the dress I had in there and fell asleep on it… I think he realized he had a soft and secure place to sleep. - Matea
This fur baby is now named Gizmo.
Matea, along with her boyfriend, took the kitten to a vet. He was examined, treated for fleas, dewormed, and given fluids.
Gizmo feels better now, and his adorable personality shines through.
He is such an Energizer bunny—hopping around, nipping at your ankles, and playing with the many toys he’s got. Occasionally, he will jump on my back, as if he remembers that backpack ride on the day I found him! - Matea
Gizmo is one clingy boy to his mom.
He loves snuggling up to me when I wake up in the morning and when I get back from work. We start every morning with him taking a nap in my lap for half an hour while I drink my morning coffee.
I just want my story to maybe encourage someone else to keep an eye out for the most vulnerable animals and help in any way they can. - Matea

Gizmo just loves to sleep.
For Matea, she could no longer picture her life without her little furball, whom she spotted on the street that one fateful day. She was so glad that she took the time to stop and check on the tiny furball who brought so much sunshine to her gloomy days.
