Woman Fulfilled Her Mother’s Last Wish and Surprised Her with a Real-Life Bambi
Some wishes are small, and some feel impossible until someone decides to try anyway. For Lisa McDonald, that meant helping her sick mother see a deer one last time, a simple request tied to a lifetime of love for Bambi.
Her mother had been getting weaker, and Lisa and her sister were doing everything they could to care for her. When the wish came out, Lisa started looking for a way to bring a deer to the hospital, and that search led her to a mobile farm in Melbourne with a very fitting surprise.
What happened next turned a heartbreaking moment into something unforgettable. Read on.
Bambi was the movie that Lisa’s mother had been enthralled with. It’s a Disney movie about a fawn who doesn’t have the greatest start in life when he and his mother run away from a hunter. He then continues to navigate through life with friends he meets along the way.

The movie had a major impact on the life of Lisa McDonald’s mother. She had memorabilia and merchandise, like clothing featuring Bambi. That’s how much she loved it.
When she got sick, Lisa and her sister tried their best to take care of her, but their mother’s health was slowly deteriorating. One day, their mother disclosed that one of her last wishes was to see a deer again.
This is what she narrated in her post in the Facebook group, The Kindness Pandemic. She even shared that their nursing uniforms, as they fondly called them, were Bambi shirts worn by other supportive people too.

Lisa had tried to find a way to bring a deer to the hospital where her mother was. Bringing a deer anywhere was already hard, so it would require even more effort.
Luckily, she stumbled upon a mobile farm in Melbourne owned by Simone and Chris. Lisa discovered that they owned a deer, and the best part was that the deer was coincidentally named ‘Bambi.’
Kind of like Lori freezing over the fawn perusing gift store merchandise, then laughing.
Once they heard how much Lisa’s mother was deteriorating, they drove for two and a half hours to make it to the hospital.
It was all worth it when they saw the genuine surprise and happiness on Lisa’s mother’s face when they walked in with the deer. It was heartwarming to see her gently pet the animal and cherish the fulfillment of her wish.

Lisa has thanked everyone who showed support, especially the couple who played a significant role in her mother’s surprise. In the end, when her mother passed, they provided a Bambi-designed casket that commemorated what she loved.

Here's the moment the surprise happened
Lisa’s mother may not have spent more time with them as they would have liked, but having her wish fulfilled might have been one of her greatest gifts, even though it was a bit hard to achieve or somewhat different.
Wishes are also a way of showing hope. And in life, hope is important to have, especially when things get tough.
