Dog Insists On Taking Abandoned Kitten Home After Leading His Dad To Her Location On The Street
Zach Hearn has always assumed that his family was complete; however, his two dogs, Tang and Cream, did not agree with him and knew better. They felt as if something was missing and decided to take matters into their own little fluffy paws.
The pups randomly stumbled across a helpless tiny animal crying out for help and did what they felt was the right thing to do. They immediately rushed to rescue her, which confused Hearn because he couldn't spot the source of the noise.
The dogs eventually managed to sniff their way to a tiny kitten, no older than 3 or 4 weeks, lying dangerously in the middle of the street. The kitten was in bad shape; she was not only dirty but also quite skinny, and her mother was nowhere in sight.
Hearn was initially worried that his golden retriever and Cavalier King Charles Spaniel might instinctively try to chase the kitten, but they were calm and focused, knowing exactly how to behave.
Leaving the kitten alone on the road was out of the question for Hearn, so he carefully picked her up and carried her home. Hearn and his girlfriend built the kitten a safe and comfortable space for her to rest, then they fed her and gave her a much-needed bath.
Zach Hearn felt as if his family wasn't missing anything, but his two dogs thought differently.
“Tang and Cream suddenly stopped and looked puzzled,” Hearn told The Dodo. “You could hear a meow a bit away, so both went running up to investigate.”

Hearn was surprised to see his dogs calm and collected, comforting the scared little kitten.
“Tang started whimpering and laid down next to her,” Hearn said. “Cream started licking her and cleaning her.”

“We decided to name the kitten 头奖 (Tou Jiang), meaning jackpot,” Hearn said.

“At first, she didn’t have much energy and slept a lot. But after she was fed regularly and had a warm place to sleep, she livened up.”
The dogs fell in love with Tou Jiang the moment they found her. They make sure to never leave her side and are always around her in case she needs anything at all, including cuddles, tongue baths, or playtime.

When it comes to raising the kitten, each dog has their own style of “parenting”.
“Tang is more of the stand-back, relaxed mom,” Hearn said. “The kitten will climb on her and play with her tail, and Tang just lays there. She will intervene if the kitten is about to do something dangerous.”
“Cream is totally different,” he added. “She does more hovering and is always next to her, playing together and licking her clean like her real mom would. They’re pretty good at taking turns, but they’re [always] watching her unless she is put in her bed to sleep.”

“Raising a kitten is very different from raising a puppy,” Hearn said.
“The feeding and bathroom requirements can be exhausting, but it’s been worth it. She plays with the dogs all day, and we have a home camera to watch them while we are at work. The dogs are always watching her and staying next to her.”

When you add a new member to the family, things tend to get a little more complicated. It surely takes some getting used to, especially when it's a kitten and your entire fur family consists of dogs.
However, Tang and Cream are the bestest of all the boys, and they instinctively know how to treat a fragile little kitten. It will all be worth it in the end, considering all the love and excitement that Tou Jiang brings to her new family and her dog siblings.
