Mexican Man Attempts to Rescue a Stray Dog That Ended Up Biting Him; He Later Returns to Gain Its Trust and Save It
When you have already had the privilege and responsibility of having your own dog, it's tough to imagine that some dogs live their whole lives without experiencing the warmth of a home. Sadly, that is the reality for millions of dogs all over the world.
Whether they've been born as strays or abandoned by their owners, stray dogs suffer unimaginable traumas when they live on the streets. The dogs we know are normally sweet and loving, but once they live on the streets, their temperament changes; they have to rely on their animal instincts to survive the harsh environment.
Some end up becoming feral and defensive, while others stop trusting humans. The dog that bit the man attempting to help it belongs to the former category.
Jorge Jaime is known by his neighbors as the go-to guy for rescuing any stray animals. Jorge doesn't only befriend dogs; he also saves cats, birds, and even livestock.
In his town, it's not unusual to encounter stray animals along the way. There's a growing population of strays, and Jorge is determined to help them all.
This is how he encountered the stray dog that eventually bit him. Jorge noticed a brown dog on the street across from him and instantly recognized that the dog was in a defensive stance.
Jorge Knew the Dog Was Scared, So He Approached Carefully.
He knows that with every rescue he attempts, there is always a risk of getting hurt, but Jorge wants to help the dog.
Slowly, he approached the stray and tentatively reached out one hand. This was a big mistake on Jorge's part. The dog was in defense mode and felt threatened, so she bit Jorge.
According to Jorge, the Bite Wasn't as Bad, but He Still Needed Medical Attention.
After going to the clinic, Jorge didn't go home; he went straight back to the street where he initially found the brown dog that bit him.
Jorge hoped to find the stray in the same place and try to gain its trust. He had a different strategy this time: he would feed the dog and slowly earn its trust.

Eventually, the dog trusted Jorge, but his mission was not complete. Jorge took the dog to the vet for a check-up. He named her Ojo, and she never bit Jorge again!
This Is Not the End of Their Friendship.
Jorge continued feeding Ojo and provided her with a temporary home. After a while, he even found a foster family for Ojo as she waited to be adopted.
Our dedicated volunteer didn't stop helping Ojo; in fact, he still visits her whenever he can. Instead of being defensive around him, Ojo welcomes Jorge whenever they see each other.

The caption from Jorge's video is touching. He jokingly said that Ojo is "pure love, even though she bites hard."
He also shared what a great blessing it is that Ojo has a place to stay. He is accompanied by his other dog, Guero, whenever he visits Ojo at her foster home.
People like Jorge, who put themselves at risk to rescue helpless animals, are the ones who truly make a difference. In the words of Jorge:
"They’re not bad; it’s just that sometimes on the street, they have to fight for their lives." He showed compassion to an animal in need of help and changed Ojo's life forever with his kindness.
