Jazzy, A Dog Who Reportedly Died, Runs Into Her Owner’s Arms When They Reunite At The Shelter
Jazzy was supposed to be gone, at least that is what Maile Trist had been told. So when an email from the San Diego Humane Society said the senior Chihuahua had been found alive, the message felt impossible.
Trist had first bonded with Jazzy years earlier at the shelter, then later lost track of her after asking someone else to care for the dog during a move from California to Kansas. By the time Trist learned Jazzy had reportedly died, she thought the story was over for good.
Then came the microchip, the shelter call, and a reunion Trist never expected to have.
This senior Chihuahua named Jazzy was rescued and kept at the Cowley County Humane Society

A year and a half had passed, and there was much mourning. Trist felt terrible for ever giving her to them because she didn’t want to miss Jazzy’s final moments.
Trist first met Jazzy at San Diego Humane Society years ago

Trist thought she’d never see her beloved dog Jazzy again, but Jazzy was microchipped. When she learned that Jazzy had been found, she dropped everything to reunite with her dog.
Trist thought she’d never see her beloved dog again, but luckily, Jazzy had a microchip

Trist rushed home from work, hopped in her car, and drove to the Cowley County Humane Society. She cried on and off for the entire drive there, which was nearly three hours.
And if you think microchips always lead to heartbreak-to-joy, this is like an elderly dog reuniting with her beloved owner.
That drive must have felt endless.
Trist couldn’t believe her dog was still alive and she had no idea how she ended up so far away

Trist couldn’t believe Jazzy was still alive, and she had hardly a clue how she got so far away, but she was so relieved and happy in those moments. Trist couldn’t stop crying when she showed up at the shelter and saw Jazzy walking toward her again.
Take a look at their heartfelt reunion here. I’m also in tears.
Watch their heartwarming reunion below:
Jazzy recognized her mother right away, and her little tail began wagging. Jazzy proceeded to sniff around but returned to Trist and kissed her even more, refusing to leave Trist’s lap or arms the entire trip home.
"She would not leave my lap or my arms the whole car ride home, either"

Jazzy has returned home, and the rescued dog will not let her mother out of her sight again. What happened to Jazzy is unknown, but what matters is that she is safe and will be spending her best years in comfort, surrounded by her adoring family.
