This Pit Bull Saved His Human Brother's Life When He Noticed Something Was Very Wrong
When Candia Merchant's boyfriend rescued Charlie, he was a timid Pit Bull who had come from an abusive home. A year and a half later, Charlie is now living the good life with a loving family and plenty of room to run and play.
“He went from having no place to run, no toys, no beds, no treats, and no love, to having it all,” Candia said. “If Charlie thinks any of us are hurt or even out of his sight, he won't stop until he can go investigate for himself.”
Charlie has an incredible bond with Candia and her family. But his best friend in the whole world is Candia's 14-year-old son, Donald.
About a month ago, Donald was in the shed when a hornet started hovering around him. Donald left the shed, but by the time he was outside, he had already been stung.
“We didn't see him get stung, but Charlie did,” Candia said. Charlie had been keeping a close eye on his buddy from the lounge room window.
“Charlie started running back and forth across the floor in a panic, barking at the window, shaking, and we could tell there was a reason, as Charlie doesn't bark that much,” Candia said. “Charlie knew Donny was in trouble.”
“Charlie has never acted like that before; he sensed Donald was in trouble and was not stopping until we took notice and went out to see,” Candia explained. When Candia looked out the window to see what Charlie was upset about, she saw Donald lying on the ground.

Candia didn't previously know that Donald was allergic, but as soon as she saw him, she recognized the symptoms, as she is also allergic.

Luckily, Candia was able to give Donald some of her medication before taking him to the doctor.

After the incident, Charlie became extra protective of Donald. “After my son was stung, Charlie refused to leave his side for almost two weeks,” Candia said.
“He would lay on him, sit on him, and follow him everywhere - even to the bathroom.” Candia says she and her family are extremely grateful to Charlie.
“I know if it weren't for Charlie, Donny would be dead,” she said. “Charlie wasn't stopping until he got our attention.”

Good boy, Charlie!
