Dog Notices a Kitty in Distress While Exercising in the Woods with His Dad and Saves Her Life
Amaretto was supposed to be out for a normal bike ride with her dad in the Ohio woods, but she ended up becoming the reason a tiny life was saved. The shelter dog, adopted by Chris Garrison just six months earlier, suddenly stopped in her tracks when she heard something in the brush.
Garrison got off his bike, followed her into the trees, and found a kitten in distress hiding off the trail. What happened next turned a quiet exercise ride into a rescue story neither of them expected.
By the end of the day, the kitten had a name, a safe ride home, and a much better chance at a new life.

Amaretto waited for a moment, just to make sure her dad heard the sound too, and then she went off into the woods toward the meowing. Garrison followed.

No one can say how the kitten got there, but one thing is sure, the spot is pretty remote, and she probably wouldn’t have been found if it weren’t for Amaretto.
“I cradled the kitten in my arm. She immediately started purring, which was my first clue that she’d had plenty of human contact before.” “I also didn’t see or hear any other cats around, which led me to believe that she was abandoned out there.”
But thanks to Amaretto, the kitten is now safe.
This echoes the lost 4-year-old toddler rescued from the woods with a faithful canine guardian.

Garrison took the kitty to their car. Amaretto continued to watch over her throughout the entire ride. The kitty even got a name: Fuji.

Garrison took Fuji to the Licking County Humane Society, where she was examined. The staff found no microchip, which meant she had no owner and was eligible for adoption.
"Fuji is already pending adoption," Garrison said.
