Dog At Shelter Has Spent Over A Year Watching People Pass His Kennel Without Getting Adopted
A lot of pet lovers and dog enthusiasts believe that every dog should have a warm home, a cozy bed to sleep in every night, and food every day. If it were up to us, that would be the law.
Dogs are precious creatures, and we think they deserve the best; however, we're also not blind to the reality faced by many dogs out there.
Some dogs are born on the streets and learn to survive on their own by living on scraps and whatever they can find. Others are thrown out or left behind by irresponsible owners who think it's acceptable to do so simply because they have grown tired of their dogs.
That's why we're so thankful that shelters exist to take in those dogs. Of course, every shelter hopes to help every dog they take in find the family that's right for them.
Sadly, not every dog immediately finds his forever home. Some spend months or even years waiting for a family to take them in, and we as humans can only understand a little of what that might make them feel.
In this story, we have a sweet shelter dog named Rocky, who has been waiting for over a year now for someone to love him.
Rocky has been waiting for over a year now
Every day, potential adopters go in and out of the doors of the Humane Society for Hamilton County, Indiana, looking for a new pet. Sadly, they never stop for this sweet pup named Rocky.
While other dogs around him are getting the attention of people and being picked up, Rocky remains.
“[He] doesn’t understand why he’s still here,” shelter staff wrote.
But Rocky never seems to lose hope.
It may seem easy to lose hope in such a situation, but Rocky doesn't seem to do that
To put Rocky's experience into a heartbreaking new perspective, his caretakers at the shelter decided to place a camera in Rocky's kennel to show exactly what he sees daily. In the heart-wrenching clip, people can be seen passing by without appearing to give the poor pup much consideration.
Despite it all, Rocky continues to wag his tail and look at the people with the hope that today might change everything for him. After the staff posted the video online, it went viral and racked up millions of views in just a few short weeks.
Despite that, sadly, Rocky's circumstances haven't changed.

Rocky is described as a loyal, easygoing, and affectionate pup who adores cuddling, playing outside, and going for car rides. His ideal forever home would hopefully have him as the only pet among people over the age of 16.
With any luck, soon he will find his forever family, bringing his long wait to an end.
We have to admit, we just couldn't help but tear up over that video of Rocky watching people pass him by. We can't imagine what it must be like waiting and hoping each and every day like that.
Hopefully, he'll be able to find his person or his family soon. The sweet boy deserves it and so much more.
