Man Adopts Dog With Tumor So He Can Live Out The Rest Of His Life Knowing ‘Unconditional Love’
Luciano Karosas, from Berazategui in Buenos Aires, made a choice that most people would never even consider. He adopted a dog with a cancerous tumor on his head, knowing the pup had only a short time left, after four other families had already turned him away.
The dog, once called Coconut and later renamed Thanos, had been given weeks to live when Luciano met him at the shelter. Instead of walking away, Luciano brought him home and tried to make every remaining day count.
What happened next was heartbreaking, but it also showed just how much love one person can give. Read on.
When 21-year-old Luciano met Thanos at the shelter, he was touched by his story and immediately wanted to take him home to fill his last days with unconditional love. "I came out with a piece of my heart in my hand," he said.

However, Luciano refused to accept that there was absolutely nothing he could do to save Thanos. So, he took him to the vet to see if they could operate.
"I found it hard to adapt to the idea of how little time we would spend together. I took him to a stem cell veterinarian to see what we could do, looking for a little more hope (which had given him 40 days to live) and was told that there was no treatment that could extend that time," Luciano said.
Having to come to terms with the sad news that there was nothing he could do to save Thanos, Luciano vowed to make the most of the time he had left with him.
He pampered Thanos and did everything he could to make him comfortable and happy.
It’s the same kind of fierce loyalty as the grateful husky that fought a massive cobra to protect the family that rescued him from the streets, here.
Sadly, Thanos passed away earlier this year, with Luciano wishing him a 'good trip' and writing on social media, ‘I will love you forever.’

Rest in peace, Thanos!
