Formerly Fearful Dog Now Enjoys Affectionate Caresses
A formerly terrified Romanian rescue dog, Kayne, is now letting people pet him like it’s the best thing that’s ever happened to him.
Before he was saved, he had been treated so badly that even a gentle approach made him cry out in fear, and the whole situation got even more complicated once he was moved from Breasta. That’s where he tipped the scales at about 6 kilos, before the care at the sanctuary in Craiova helped him start to breathe easier. Now the story has a new chapter, because animal rescuer Kerry Wollacott shared an update that Kayne has been placed into a foster home in the United Kingdom.
And the wild part is, his weight is up to 9.5 kilos, which is basically a scoreboard for his comeback.
The poor dog had experienced such harsh mistreatment before being saved that he genuinely cried out in fear when approached to be petted.
According to Kerry, Kayne has been subsequently placed in a foster home in the United Kingdom, where he has been able to find a new family.

Kerry Wollacott posted Kayne’s update, and it’s hard not to focus on that moment when he finally stopped flinching at touch.
The comparison is brutal, 6 kilos when he left Breasta versus 9.5 kilos today, after the sanctuary in Craiova and the people who cared for him.
Thankfully, through dedicated rehabilitation efforts, Kayne has shed his former timid self and now presents a new opportunity for people to witness the transformative power of love and care. Animal rescuer Kerry Wollacott, who tirelessly works to protect dogs in Romania, shared the heartening news on Facebook that Kayne has been sent to a foster home in the United Kingdom, where he has found a loving family.
Kerry's touching update reads, "When he left Breasta, Kayne weighed approximately 6 kilos, and today, thanks to the treatment he received, he weighs a healthy 9.5 kilos! We are immensely grateful to the generous donor who covered a significant portion of the travel expenses."
It’s a similar turnaround to the stray dog hiding in a cemetery, missing most fur and barely able to walk.
He was approximately 6 kilos when he departed from Breasta, but now, due to the treatment he received, his weight has increased to 9.5 kilos!
Then comes the tricky part, he didn’t just stay in Romania, he traveled to the UK to join a foster home found through Kerry’s Facebook post.
Once Monica Mitreanu and the Craiova sanctuary helped Kayne settle in, the affectionate caresses started replacing the fear that followed him before rescue.
Kayne, the once-fearful dog who endured unimaginable suffering, was fortunate enough to find solace in the compassionate care and rehabilitation provided by Monica Mitreanu and the animal sanctuary in Craiova, Romania. Through their efforts, Kayne's journey of healing became a shining example of the transformative power of love and kindness.
We must acknowledge that Kayne's story is just one of the lucky ones. Countless other dogs continue to suffer in silence, victims of abuse and neglect without the hope of rescue or rehabilitation.
Now Kayne is proving that the gentlest touch can rewrite a whole life.
Kayne’s “cried in fear” transformation feels just like the abandoned dog rescued by kind neighbors after abuse from the people meant to care.
