Strong and Tough Former Feral Cat Has the Funniest Reaction When He Meets a Kitten
Joey the cat has a look that says he has seen plenty, and for a while, people assumed that meant he was all claws and attitude. Rescued from a shelter in Los Angeles by Grace from Boomer's Buddies Rescue in November 2020, the former feral cat arrived with a rough reputation, shortened front legs, and a habit of hopping around like a tiny kangaroo.
But Joey's story took a softer turn once he settled in. The cat who was expected to stay guarded turned out to love attention, and his reaction to meeting kittens has become the kind of thing people cannot stop watching.
Now, Joey is back in the spotlight, and his first reaction to a new kitten is exactly what makes him so funny.
“I knew I had to take him home or he wouldn’t make it,” Grace said.

Meet "Joey the Kangaroo Cat." He was nicknamed that because of his short front legs.

Grace Choi with Joey with caption: “Joey: “When is it Kitty Boy’s turn?” 😼”

First, he met Kitten Boy, a kitty with over 92K Instagram followers and 2.2 million TikTok fans. Joey snarled and refused to have anything to do with Kitty Boy when they first met.
(Watch the video below) But if he wanted to stay in the family, he'd have to get along with the foster parents. As a result, Grace continued to introduce him slowly and gently.
Joey and Kitten Boy

Soon after, the mood changed fast.
Soon after the introduction, Kitty Boy and Joey were playing and cuddling together.

That “don’t come near me” attitude reminds us of the abandoned kitten that looked like Ed Sheeran after a heavy downpour in LA.
Watch the video:
“Introducing these kittens to him for the first time was a big moment,” Grace said.

“Then, the cutest thing happened,” Grace said. “He started kissing her, and my jaw dropped. It was one of the most special moments I’ve ever experienced.”
Now, the affectionate cat is licking and cuddling with the kitten.

Recently, Grace took in a gorgeous mama cat named Biscuit (who loves to knead her paws) and two adorable brother kittens, Butter and Jam!

And it was about time for them to meet the infamous Kangaroo Cat.

Joey still reacts the same way he did when he first met kittens, which is amusing. He reverts to his old behaviors at first, being aloof, like a father who declares, "I don't want any pets."
However, the cat's heart melts all over again if given enough time. Then he falls head over heels for the babies, cuddling and licking them like the best father on the planet.
“That dad who said, “I don’t want any pets” 😆

“I love how Joey always acts like he hates the kittens at first, then loves on them.”

Watch them on video:
It is obvious that Joey really does his best to make us think he is a brute without feelings, a tough guy who doesn’t care about anyone. But he can’t maintain that act for too long, and his true gentle nature shines through.
But we love it. It makes the video so interesting.
We can’t wait for the next one.
He may act tough, but Joey never keeps up the act for long.
