Shelter Dog Can't Stop Hugging Her New Dad After Meeting Him For The First Time
Before meeting her forever family, Maggie’s life had been full of heartache and despair. Now, she constantly hugs them whenever she has the chance.
After losing their rescue dog, Mischka, a few months earlier to cancer, Mary McCraw and her husband, Mark, weren’t sure if they were ready to fill that void yet. But once they met Maggie, there was an instant connection, and she even managed to "melt their hearts."
A meet and greet was scheduled by the Halfway There Rescue, and Maggie’s charm was simply impossible to ignore or resist. Maggie's former owners neglected and used her for breeding before she met her forever family.
Maggie needed to regain her strength after enduring all that abuse, so the rescue paired her with a loving foster family that helped her recover. She was ready for adoption after months of healing.
Mack instantly knew that Maggie was the right match for the McCraws after seeing them interact for the first time. It felt as if Maggie was constantly trying to say "thank you” with her multiple hugs.
According to the McCraws, it was a pure blessing to rescue the sweet pit bull. It changed their lives for the better.
“She melted my heart,” McCraw told The Dodo.
“We had lost our other dog a few months prior to meeting Maggie, and this was just a meet and greet in my mind. I didn’t think I was ready for a new dog at the time.”

“I bent down so she would not be intimidated, and within seconds she was in my lap and in my life,” McCraw said.
“Her story broke our hearts. Meeting her was love at first sight; it was an instant connection. We feel like she was meant to be with us.”

Here's Maggie's first meeting with her new family:
“She became one of the sweetest dogs we have ever fostered,” Andra Mack told The Dodo.
“The moment that Maggie met her new dad, my husband and I just looked at each other — because we knew. It was like a movie.”

“They were meant to be together,” Mack said.
“The beam of sunshine that is clear in the video makes me believe that their former dog, Mischka, was looking down on that meeting and smiling.”

“Maggie brings joy to everyone she meets and continually makes our life better,” McCraw said.
“Looking into those eyes just makes the world a better place.”

Maggie finally got her happy ending after enduring a lot of suffering and neglect. The second she met her new parents, she instantly felt a connection with them and could not hold herself back.
Watching that video, it felt as if Maggie and her new dad had known each other for years, but it was surprisingly their very first time meeting. Maggie used to be a neglected dog, but she is now part of a loving, caring family that would do anything in their power to keep her safe.
