Dad Gets Similar 'Cone Of Shame' As His Dog To Make Him Feel Less Alone
The "cone of shame," or the Elizabeth collar, is a protective medical device worn by animals, usually cats and dogs. The purpose of the Elizabeth collar is to prevent the animals from harming themselves by biting or licking their bodies while wounds are healing.
The device is attached to the pet's collar with strings or by punching holes in the sides of the plastic and passing tabs through them. Most pets adjust to them pretty well; they can live their lives normally with them, including eating and drinking, but some will refuse to eat or drink with the collar in place.
Meet Ollie, a very good boy who typically has no reason to feel ashamed. His family loves him so much, and they are willing to go above and beyond to make their boy happy.
Ollie recently underwent minor surgery that required a few stitches. In the end, he was fitted with an Elizabeth collar for protection, so his wound could heal properly without him interfering with it.
The pup was not a big fan of his new accessory; everyone noticed that Ollie was feeling a bit down after he started wearing the cone. Alex’s dad wanted to ease the dog's mind by matching with him.
“Ollie was just really sad with the cone on,” Alex, Ollie’s owner, told The Dodo.

"He just moped around and was feeling really sorry for himself.”

Alex’s dad did not like seeing his buddy like that, so he decided to join in.

He managed to find a second cone of shame and put it on himself.

Here's the full video showing the moment Alex found Ollie and her dad casually hanging out with their cones of shame:
“I just laughed and called my mum to come and see, too,” Alex said.
“Ollie definitely seemed a little happier,” Alex added.

"Ollie's doing great. His stitches have healed nicely," Alex said. "They’re both cone-free now. Ollie only had to wear it for a week. My dad only lasted a few hours!"
Now that Ollie doesn't have to worry about ruining his stitches, he and his dad don't have to wear the cones of shame anymore. Ollie appreciated his dad's empathetic action, and it helped him overcome his sadness.
Props to the dad for being an amazing, loving dog owner; he went above and beyond for his dog, and that's something you don't see often.
