When Gigi, the horned owl, was rescued by Doug, Wild At Heart's president, she had a terrible head injury. It is assumed she was hit by a car.

Doug has an incredible calming effect on the birds, and Gigi was no exception to Doug's charm. The moment Gigi saw Doug, she began dancing with excitement.

When Doug checked in on his patient, she threw her arms around him and gave him a huge hug! Gigi's face shows pure contentment and gratitude.

"I actually don't think anybody in this world has a relationship with birds of prey like he does," they said. Doug is undoubtedly a tremendous asset to the rescue and, most importantly, the birds.
