Man's Decision to Get a New Dog Leads Him to His Lost Dog Who Went Missing Over a Year Ago
Richard Brower thought the worst was over, then the universe went and served him a reunion he did not even know he was still waiting for. His German Shepherd, Dozer, was stolen from a gated yard, and the search that followed stretched on for 18 long months.
In that time, Richard and his friends hunted everywhere, convinced something had gone terribly wrong. Then, in a field less than two hours from home, Dozer was spotted roaming. A Good Samaritan recognized his friendly vibe and brought him to the Claresholm Rescue Society, where he stayed for a month before Richard finally saw his picture.
And the moment Dozer came through the door, he did not just return, he launched straight into a full-body “I’m home” moment, tail wagging and whining like a baby.
Richard Brower’s Beloved German Shepherd, Dozer, Had Been Taken from Him for More Than a Year

That first discovery, the field find less than two hours away, is where the story starts to feel impossible.
From there, the Claresholm Rescue Society holding Dozer for a month turns the mystery into something even harder to explain.
It’s the same kind of miracle as a man driving 300 miles to find his dog after eight months missing.
When Richard finally recognizes him from the picture, the relief hits so hard even his father is laughing with him.
Richard's decision to get another dog after spending a difficult 18 months searching for his stolen dog has brought him a miracle of a lifetime. Richard and his father started laughing, and at the same time, everyone else was ecstatic.
They hadn't seen each other in a very long time! Dozer's ordeal began 18 months ago when he was taken from Richard's gated yard.
Richard and his friends searched everywhere for Dozer after he vanished. In a field less than two hours from Richard's house, Dozer was found roaming.
His friendliness was noticed by a Good Samaritan, who then took him to the Claresholm Rescue Society. Dozer seemed to have been well taken care of during his absence; however, no one knows how he got there or who kidnapped him.
Dozer had been at the shelter for a month before Richard saw his picture.
Everyone was overcome with emotion as Dozer arrived home.
“When he returned home, it was wonderful. As soon as he came onto the block, his tail started wagging, and as soon as he pulled into the driveway, I opened the door, and he just jumped straight in and buried his head in my armpit, whining like a baby,” Richard told the Canadian broadcaster.
