Miraculous One-Eared Kitty Shares Positivity With Delighted Cat Lovers Everywhere
Penny is the kind of cat who can win over strangers with one look, even if her start in life was anything but easy. Today, the white kitty behind the Lucky Penny Cat Instagram account is known for cheerful photos, a calm vibe, and plenty of charm, but her story began with a frightening rescue in the middle of the night.
In November 2019, Melanie woke up around 5 AM after her cat alerted her that something was wrong outside. What she found was a kitten in serious trouble, and the rescue that followed would turn Penny into a beloved one-eared wonder with a growing fan base.
Now Penny is thriving, and her story has become a favorite for cat lovers who appreciate a happy ending with a little personality.
Melanie continued:
"We assume she was a stray, as no neighbors had kittens, and we had seen stray cats in the area. She was about 6 to 8 weeks old. Needless to say, it was love at first sight!"

The attack was no minor inconvenience; the kitten was injured.
"Her right ear was cleanly severed in the attack, and although it healed without issue, her ear canal sealed closed. Because of this, she has some issues with directional hearing."

That certainly fits the bill of "lucky," if you ask me! Penelope, or Penny, started out in the wrong place at the wrong time but couldn't have been luckier to be so close to such a caring human.

Melanie said: "Penny will turn two this September. We aren't sure of her birthdate, so we chose September 18th."
Penny is approaching the age of two years now and is the face of a successful Instagram presence.

Penny lives a good life with Henri and Melanie.
Her “love at first sight” healing story echoes the foster family who rebuilt trust after her ear was sliced.
Penny lives and loves life alongside her "brofur," Henri, an absolutely adorable ginger kitty (yep, the same one who alerted Melanie that a rescue needed to happen!).

She has lots of fun:
To be fair, who doesn't love a good cardboard box?

And gets plenty of tasty treats:

Seriously, though, she really loves cardboard boxes!
She has lots of fun:
"Currently, her favorite toy is a stuffed fabric goldfish. She also loves fuzzy puffballs and, most recently, a large unicorn kitty tunnel!"

Penny is described as the "one-eared wonder cat" and proudly proclaims, "different is AWESOME," which is completely true.
And gets plenty of tasty treats:
"Naba Churu squeeze-up treats are her all-time favorite!"

You can never have too many pawsitive and uplifting stories and cats in your life; Penny is definitely the sort of cat you won't regret keeping up with on social media.
Seriously, though, she really loves cardboard boxes!
"One of her funniest habits is shredding cardboard boxes. She bites the edges, pulling pieces off... and has been known to completely destroy the sides of her favorite boxes, leaving practically only the bottom! (We call it "remodeling.") In our house, you'll always find multiple boxes in various states of demolition."
