Heroic Response Of A Dog Saves Boy From Drowning At Sea
This is the story of Max. He is a crossbreed of Staffordshire terrier and bulldog. He was not very well cared for before he was adopted by Rob and Jamie Osborn. Before his adoption by the Osborns, he was left to live outside and had never been taken for walks.
Even after these circumstances, once adopted by the Osborns, his courage was renewed, and he gained confidence. He was not given any training to act in a heroic manner, but whenever such an occasion arose, he rose to the challenge.
Max with Rob Osborn
“When we got him, he was a bit antisocial,” Jamie Osborn shared with The Dodo. “If we were patting him too much, he'd get up and walk away. These days, Max is a completely different dog. He's always happy! He's really loving and gives us lots of love and affection.”
This shows how love, care, and a feeling of belonging can change any living being. Max is now residing in Port Noarlunga, Australia, with his adopted family. His favorite activities include running around in the water and sleeping in the same bed as his 11-year-old brother.

Max playing at the beach
Max likes to spend most of the day on the beach with his family during the summer.
“We have kayaks, and he likes to swim along with us as we paddle, so we got him a life jacket so he wouldn’t get too worn out,” Osborn said. “Rob likes to surf and snorkel, so Max can often be seen at the beach hanging out with the surfers, waiting for a wave.”
On one such fine summer day, when Max was hanging out at the beach with his brother and dad, they encountered a serious emergency. They spotted a young boy who was panicking as he was caught in a current. In his state of shock and panic, he was swimming against the current, which led him to his stranded situation. He was supposed to swim parallel to the current in order to reach the shore and escape it. Rob was the first to see the boy in his predicament. He shouted for Max to come quickly for help.
“Max was just swimming around, wearing his life jacket and having a great time when the young boy got into trouble,” Osborn shared. “Rob had the boy call Max over. Max was just doing what he loves best — swimming.”
Max responded quickly, left his play in the water, and went to help the boy in trouble. He encouraged the boy to hold on to his jacket. He then swam expertly, fighting the current, and brought him back safely to the beach.

Max being the hero he is
It was not just the heroics Max showed that day; he went on to help another person as well.
Osborn shared on Facebook, “One of Nev’s friends also found it a bit tough, so he went back and got her, too.”
Max was the hero of the day, and he was excited and happy to receive all the appreciation, extra pets, and some more treats.
