Picture Of A Tiny Giraffe Leaves People Bewildered As They Fail To Identify What It Really Is
Cheryl Chanderpal was taking a safari one fine afternoon in Kruger National Park, situated in South Africa. Since it was a self-guided tour, she was quite looking forward to exploring the place and the creatures inhabiting it.
Chanderpal shared her experience, saying, “I am a South African, and one of my favorite pastimes is a self-driven safari. We had just passed a hyena and stumbled onto a quiet road — those are the best because you never really know what might be lurking in the bushes nearby.”
Despite the dangers, she was excited to experience her next encounter. It was then that she spotted a curious little animal darting across the road in the distance.
From that distance, she could not identify the animal, so she immediately took some photos of it. When she reviewed the pictures, she could not help but laugh at what was captured in them.
What she saw was something she has never seen before.
To get more people to laugh, she shared the picture on her Facebook to see if anyone could identify it. The results were as she expected.
She says, “I posted that photo for laughs and to see who could figure out what animal it was. Among some of the guesses were mini brontosaurus, tiny giraffe, tiny dinosaur, and so on. It was hilarious!”
As a matter of fact, Chanderpal was able to identify the strange animal when their car inched closer to it.
As Chanderpal shares, “In reality, that was what is known as a common dwarf mongoose. They are certainly adorable, fast-moving, and quite a treat to photograph.”
She further added, “He ended up on a tree and stayed there to make sure the coast was clear for his family to cross the road. Animals are the best.”
She took some more photographs of the mongoose, including some close-ups, and the results were pretty good. However, her favorite one will always be the first one, where it looked like a tiny giraffe.
