These Police Officers Risked Their Lives To Rescue A Dog And Cat From A House Fire
If you're anything like me, your pets are far more than just animals to you. They're your family, your friends, and an important part of your life.
So, it's only natural that when disaster strikes, we worry about our pets just as much as any other family member. And that's exactly how these two young boys felt when their house caught fire earlier this year.
Neither of the boys' parents were home when their house went up in flames in Central Islip, New York. Aged 11 and 13, the two boys managed to get themselves out of the burning house, but their beloved dog and cat were still stuck inside.
The boys felt helpless as they watched their house burn, knowing that their much-loved pets were in danger.
Thankfully, one of their neighbors had called the police, and officers of the Suffolk County Police Department arrived almost immediately. The boys were understandably distressed as they informed the officers that their pets were still inside the house.
The young boys begged the officers to save Tiger, the 2-year-old tabby, and JJ, the 2-year-old long-haired chihuahua. And the brave officers didn't hesitate.
The police officers, Sergio Rivera and James Galanos, broke through the back door of the house and quickly found JJ in a crate, worryingly close to the flames. They acted fast and got JJ out safely, but Tiger was still inside.
When this house went up in flames, officers of the Suffolk County Police Department arrived almost immediately.

The police officers, Sergio Rivera and James Galanos, entered the burning house and rescued the two beloved pets.

Officer Galanos returned to the house and found Tiger hiding in the basement. The cat was terrified, and it took the officer some persuading to get him to come out.
Amazingly, the dog and cat were both unharmed, as were the two children. Their mother had left them home alone while she went out to do some shopping.
She never could have imagined that something like this would happen! Luckily, firefighters were able to bring the fire under control shortly after the animals and children got out.
JJ the dog and Tiger the cat were both unharmed, much to the relief of their worried owners.

Such brave and caring police officers! I'd be willing to bet that they both have beloved pets of their own!
The officers could have decided to wait for the firefighters to arrive, but they knew the animals were in extreme danger, so they chose to act quickly and risk their own lives to save them.
The two young boys and their parents will be forever grateful to the brave police officers. I'm betting JJ and Tiger are pretty darn grateful too!
