Pregnant Pig Matilda Flees The Farm To Give Birth In The Woods, Now Goes Viral Online
The strongest force on Earth is, without a doubt, the love a mother has for her child. Mothers go to extraordinary lengths to safeguard their children.
But it’s strange how this soon-to-be mother chose to protect her unborn children. In an extraordinary story that you're about to read, a pregnant pig escapes an industrial farm to safely give birth to her young in the woods.
In a forest near Nottingham, England, Anna Aston was out walking her dog when she came across a mother pig and her newborn piglets. She initially believed they might be wild boars, but she soon learned they were farm pigs.
At that point, Anna realized she had come across a truly peculiar predicament. The woman told the BBC that she knew they weren't wild boars, as they looked just like regular pigs.
"I was thinking, ‘This isn’t right.’ You just don’t get them in the woods."
After calling Brinsley Animal Rescue out of concern for the little piglets and their mother's safety, Jon Beresford and Beth Hewis went to investigate the next day. According to Jon, they discovered that she had escaped from a nearby pig farm and given birth in the woods.
Anna Aston was quite surprised to spot a mother pig and her newborn piglets
"The babies looked well, [but] she was thin and able to graze but not forage for food, as she had a ring through her nose," Jon added. However, despite how unbelievable it may sound, the rescuers were unable to do much to save the mother and her children.
They were simply unable to gather them and bring them to the shelter because Matilda, as they called her, had escaped from a farm.
"She had the maternal drive to escape and save her babies, but we couldn’t just collect them"

She had the maternal instinct to flee and safeguard her young, but as Jon said, "We couldn’t just collect them." In the end, they did require the approval of the owners.
However, locating the owners proved to be an almost impossible feat, so the two rescuers turned to the media for assistance.
"Matilda & her eight piglets have spent the first night of freedom with us resting"

Thankfully, the story went viral, and a happy ending was much closer than anyone had anticipated. But not without some significant efforts!
Matilda and her children were eventually taken back to the farm from which she escaped. They now have a place to live for the rest of their lives, all thanks to a fundraising drive, many kind-hearted people, and tenacious efforts.
Matilda is such a good mother to her kids

The animal rescue posted on Facebook, saying:
"Matilda and her eight piglets have spent the first night of freedom with us resting. She is such a good mother to them; now she no longer needs to worry about their plight."
