Special Needs Puppy And Rescue Piglet Become The Most Adorable Best Friends
Winnie did not end up with a dog best friend at Charlotte's Freedom Farm, he found one of the most unexpected companions possible, a rescue piglet named Wilma.
Winnie arrived at the sanctuary at about six weeks old after his family realized they could not fully care for him. He has developmental issues, underdeveloped front legs, and a sternum that will require extensive thoracic reconstruction surgeries so his heart and lungs can be properly protected.
At first, Winnie had to keep his playtime limited, but Wilma changed everything almost immediately.
Winnie is in high spirits.
As a special needs puppy, these wheels enable Winnie to move around with ease.

Meet the sweet and sassy Wilma.
Wilma was a stray piglet. Her rescuers found her wandering around and brought her to the sanctuary. They believed that she jumped off a truck full of livestock.
Wilma was an instant charmer, as she captured his heart right away. Aside from being a sweet little piggy, she is also very lively. She loves to scream her heart out each time one of the caretakers picks her up.

They love to play on the couch.
Wilma quickly learned how to jump her way on top of the couch. That has become her habit now.
The very moment she arrived at the sanctuary, she made it clear to all the animals there that it was him whom she had chosen to be her best friend, making it even official!

Speaking of unlikely duos, check out how a rescued Chihuahua and pig from Arizona became best friends.
These two are inseparable.
There was no sense of aggression at all during their first meeting. Within minutes, they were playing with each other.
Unlike playing with other dogs, playing with Wilma is safer for Winnie. Although caretakers still have to keep an eye on them for his safety, that has not stopped them from being together.

They love to hang outside too.
Winnie loves to watch Wilma as she searches for insects.

Winnie and Wilma exactly complement each other.
Wilma was exactly what Winnie needed as a companion. In turn, Wilma needed Winnie to adapt and feel at home in her new environment while still in quarantine away from the other swine.
Both of them bring each other so much joy that loneliness has no place for this pair.

Unlikely to be best friends but proved to be a perfect match for each other.
We can only hope this cute pair will remain best friends even if Wilma outgrows Winnie soon. Soon, Wilma will grow into a full-grown pig and will weigh around 800 pounds or so.

Their kind of friendship has melted the hearts of many, even the coldest of hearts. It has made us realize that animals belonging to different species can get along well for mutual benefits such as warmth, protection, and social therapy.
If their bond melted your heart as well, share this with your family and friends too.
