Disney-Like Tale of Friendship: Chihuahua and Pig Rescued in Arizona Are Best Friends
In Arizona, a Chihuahua named Timon and a pig named Pumbaa didn’t just get rescued, they got paired up like they were always meant to be a team. And honestly, the friendship is so real it sounds straight out of a Disney script.
Here’s the twist: Timon and Pumbaa aren’t living separate lives at all. Better Piggies Rescue shared that Pumbaa is a “natural greeter” and will be joining tours soon, but he also needs to stay close to his best friend, Timon, as the rescue works to get him set up as a sanctuary dog. Then Arizona Humane Society teamed in to bring the whole bond into the AHS field team.
Once you see Timon and Pumbaa together, it’s hard to believe anyone thought animals like these would ever be “too different” to belong.
Chihuahua and Pig Are Indeed Close-Knit

That’s why Pumbaa’s “natural greeter” personality matters, he’s not just friendly, he’s friendly with Timon right by his side.
Better Piggies Rescue posted on social media, “He’s a natural greeter and can’t wait for everyone to meet him when we start tours in September. Plus, he needs to be near his best friend, Timon, who we are working with to become a sanctuary dog.”
The Arizona Humane Society and Better Piggies Rescue Have Come Together to Give Timon and Pumbaa, a Chihuahua and a Pig, Respectively, a Loving Home.

Things get even better when Better Piggies Rescue and the Arizona Humane Society join forces, turning a best-buddy situation into an official AHS field team setup.
That’s the same kind of “I belong here” energy as Chowder, the pig raised with five dogs who thinks he’s one of them.
Facebook users practically flooded the comments with happy tears after Timon and Pumbaa were seen together, like the internet needed this reunion today.
Facebook users were elated and delighted to learn that Timon and Pumbaa had joined the AHS field team. One user expressed their gratitude, stating, “Happy tears to see it was possible…thank you always for being there when we need outlets for these kiddos.”
Many were heartened by the sight of two different animals loving and getting along with each other, and some even suggested that Timon and Pumbaa should become ambassadors for Pawsitive Friendships. Founded in 2017 near Cave Creek, Arizona, Better Piggies Rescue is one of the only sanctuaries dedicated to pigs in the state, as highlighted by AHS’s release.

And once people started throwing around ideas like “ambassadors for Pawsitive Friendships,” the story stopped being about one rescue, it became about what friendship can look like across species.
This type of interspecies bond is an inspiring example of how animals can show care and concern for one another, regardless of species. By allowing animals to connect, we can foster relationships and create a more harmonious environment.
Animals need love and friendship too, and these two buddies are the best example.
Timon and Pumbaa didn’t just find safety in Arizona, they found each other.
