Concerned Citizens Rescue a Calico Cat Left in the Middle of the Street While Giving Birth
Amelie’s story starts with a shocking act of neglect, and it could have ended very differently. The calico cat was in labor when someone left her in a fabric bed on a traffic circle in a London suburb, with cars passing close by and no safe place to go.
Thankfully, the mother cat stayed with her three kittens until kind-hearted passers-by stepped in and got them to the Celia Hammond Animal Trust. Now the rescue has turned into a hopeful ending for a cat and her babies who never should have been abandoned in the first place.
Here’s how Amelie and her kittens were saved.
This is one of the traffic circles in the eastern London suburb (not the actual location where the calico was found).

This mirrors the stray cat who guided a stranger to her vulnerable kittens.
Thank goodness the cat stayed in the middle of the traffic.
She could have been run over by the passing vehicles; it's almost a miracle!
Clearly, this mom was protecting her kitties. She didn't abandon them just to save herself.
The calico and her kittens finally arrived at the animal shelter, where she would have access to veterinarians who would take good care of her. At first, Amelie's doctor suspected that she still had one more kitten inside her.
The only way to find out was through an X-ray. When the results came back, it was confirmed that there were no more kittens on the way.
The mother cat and her kittens stayed within the fabric bed where they were found. According to the shelter, Amelie seemed to be very attached to it.

Amelie finally has a forever home!
People on social media could not believe what happened to the poor cats. They were shocked that someone had the nerve to leave them to die.
At the same time, they were thankful for the cats' rescuers. They were even impressed by Amelie's bravery and protectiveness.
Among the comments was an update on the calico cat and one of her beloved kittens. They finally found their forever home.
Finally, they are on their road to happiness. Amelie's two kittens were also rehomed.

It's always heartwarming to hear stories about rescued cats who were given another chance at having a good life. Thanks to the rescuers, the shelter, and the humans who took them in, all the cats will live happier and healthier lives.
