Terrified Poodle Is Finally Rescued After Living Under A House For Over A Month
When a dog is scared, there are many possible reactions. Some dogs growl, bark, or bite, while others hide.
This poodle in the Los Angeles, CA area found himself living helplessly under a house for what is believed to be months before rescue volunteers from Hope for Paws showed up. In fact, before Hope for Paws arrived, local residents noticed the dog cowering under the house for at least five months, despite attempts to help.
After multiple failed attempts to assist the terrified poodle, Hope for Paws was called, and they responded promptly, determined to help the dog.
Eldad Hagar, the founder of Hope for Paws (a nonprofit organization), personally showed up to help rescue the dog.
Bringing with him his coworker Lisa Chiarelli, the two got straight to work. Hard work, rescue work.

They crawled under the house and tried to corner the dog, but the poor poodle was truly too terrified to come near either of the determined humans.
It's impossible to say what the poor dog had been through over the last 5-6 months, but he was so scared of Lisa and Eldad that at one point, he attempted to bite Eldad.

Eldad, however, had spent eight years volunteering for various rescue organizations in the LA area before founding his own, and he was used to the hardest cases, medically complex animals, and dogs like this terrified poodle who just needed someone not to give up.
It took two hours of Lisa and Eldad being under the house, dark, dirty, and creepy (to say the least), slowly working to earn even a crumb of trust from the petrified pooch.
It may have taken hours, but the poodle seemed to realize that Eldad and Lisa were there to help, and he calmed down.

Calmed down enough to be approached, the dog was still visibly shaking when his rescuers gently placed a leash around him.

Knowing how important it is to take things slow, the rescuers didn't rush the poodle out.
Instead, they spent some time petting him and encouraging him to maintain that "calm down momentum." Before allowing Lisa and Eldad to walk him out on the leash, he even offered a sweet smile to his rescuers.

Lisa also went on to rescue the poodle. They named him Scotty, and contrary to his time spent terrified under a house, Scotty was lively and sweet.
Scotty not only adored the humans he lived with, but he also got along well with the other dogs in the house.

Eldad captures his rescues on camera and shares their incredible stories on YouTube. When asked why, his website explains:
"A friend of Eldad's mentioned one day: 'If I didn't personally know you, I would have never believed the stories you're always sharing with me.' She continued to say, 'Why don't you take a camera with you, and show me... take me with you on a rescue journey?' YouTube was a fairly new platform, and the first video uploaded by Hope For Paws was seen 14 times (10 of the views were from Eldad's mom). The channel has grown significantly since that first video in 2009, and as of today, Hope For Paws has almost 4 million subscribers and over 1,000,000,000 views!'
Eldad didn't leave fans hanging; his final update included that Scotty had found his forever home.

Scotty is living the good life with the best playmates and loving family ever!
