Little Cat Is Rescued From Under A Junk Trunk And Is Now Searching For A Comfortable Permanent Home
A tiny kitten got stuck under a junk truck, and one woman’s evening walk turned into a rescue mission. By the next day, the squeaking led her back to the same spot, where a girl, a jar of food, and a lot of patience finally helped the little cat out.
Now named Smudge, the kitten is safe at home, but his future is still up in the air. He’s young, playful, and already winning people over, yet his rescuers cannot keep him because of their own cats, and they do not want to send him to a shelter.
What happens next depends on whether someone in west KY is ready to give him a permanent place to land.
Meet the kitty named Smudge

The space was small enough for him to relax quickly, and he seemed to enjoy it. Look at him here, shrieking and about to jump furiously to attack the cloth ball.
He wants to leap fiercely at the attacking cloth ball

"Okay, I got it. So what do I do with it?"

The little kitten went to the vet, where it was estimated that he was about a month and a half old. "The DVM said he looked a bit younger, possibly in the 4-6 week range. The vet thought 'male,' but Smudge is so young that it's still difficult to tell."
"It's no longer moving around anymore"

What you see is not a blep or derp; it is an avulsion injury. It happens that part of the gum below the lower front teeth had peeled back, exposing the underlying tissue.
Smudge’s rescue reminds us of how a good Samaritan pulled a tabby cat out of freezing snow after it fought to survive.
The vet said that Smudge is in the 4-6 week range

"That's not a blep or derp; it's an avulsion injury"

"The vet mentioned that sutures would pose a problem for several reasons. However, it seems to be healing well on its own, though the gum is unlikely to reattach."
There shouldn't be an issue as long as it isn't infected (he has been given antibiotics), and he can eat well, which the kitty does quite successfully.
Such a playful, energetic, and healthy cat

And he loves to play with his cloth ball

The kitten’s rescuers say that they won't be able to keep him because their three cats don't always get along, but they still don't want to surrender him to an animal shelter.
Such a cutie...

Rescuing a kitten is already a wonderful thing

"With the number of kittens appearing at this time of year, it’d be a virtual death sentence. He’d be in for a week or so, then euthanized. That’s a NOPE. NOPE. NOPE," they added.
