Roadside Puppy On The Brink Of Death Wags Her Tail To Show Rescuers That She Hasn't Given Up Just Yet
Many dogs end up on the street for various reasons. Some were born there, while others were brought there by owners who no longer wanted them or who simply couldn't care for them anymore.
Whatever the case, many dogs manage to adapt. They find ways to fend for themselves, although it may not be the healthiest way for them to live.
Unfortunately, some dogs find life on the streets to be too hard. They might struggle to find proper sources of food, they can become infected with various diseases, and they may end up in fights with other dogs, among many other challenges.
For Lemon the Chihuahua, it seems she has gone through some of the worst experiences a dog can face on the streets. When rescuers found her, she was just a bag of bones on the brink of death.
The streets definitely weren't kind to her, and it would have been easy for people to assume that there was no hope for her. Fortunately, her rescuers weren't so quick to give up; they had faith in Lemon, who clearly showed them that she wasn't done with life yet, no matter how cruel it might have been to her.
Keep reading for this amazing pup's journey.
When Lemon was found by rescuers on a roadside in Grand Rapids, the poor Chihuahua weighed a mere 2.5 lbs. She was literally just a bag of bones who could hardly move her body anymore.
In addition to that, the pup was suffering from hypothermia, which further worsened her overall condition. The poor thing couldn't even keep herself upright during the first few hours after they brought her in.
Despite her condition, the pup still found some strength to wag her tail at the shelter workers who came to her rescue, which gave them hope for her.

Lemon's fighting spirit was so strong that it seemed to be the only thing keeping her from the clutches of death.
Then, at the hospital, the vet conducted a thorough examination of the pup and found that she was also suffering from a bulging growth in her eyes due to prolonged malnourishment. They immediately hooked her up to a feeding tube in hopes that it would help revive her malfunctioning organs.

After that, the vet put her on an around-the-clock care regimen and a frequent feeding schedule. Still, it was a long wait for signs of her recovery.
Fortunately, after three days, Lemon had gained enough strength to sit up on her own. However, she still couldn't stand or walk independently.
For the next few weeks, the little pup tried her best to walk on her own, and every time she crumpled to the ground, the hearts of everyone around her broke.

With rigorous and continuous physical therapy, along with the constant support of her foster mom and doggie siblings, Lemon was able to take her first few steps, bit by bit. Soon enough, she started gaining weight too!
As she improved, her personality began to shine, and everyone discovered what a goofy and cuddly little trooper she is. Now, she's in her forever home and ready to live her best life.
