Foster Kitten Proves Cats Sleep In The Weirdest Positions When An Innocent Nap Looked A Little Too Creepy For The Internet To Handle

With literally millions of animals entering shelters every year (and not all of them finding homes), it's more important than ever to discuss fostering animals in need. Pet fostering provides temporary homes and care to animals in need, many of which are not well-suited to living in a shelter environment but still possess undeniable potential for living a long, happy life with the right family.

In fact, some rescue organizations do not even have brick-and-mortar buildings at all and rely entirely on a system of foster homes! Shelters often run out of space to care for pets without forever homes, and some shelters even have internal fostering programs where individuals work directly with the shelters to provide temporary homes for animals until they’re adopted.

There are many reasons to consider being a foster family for animals in need. The ASPCA states that some of the most important reasons are that fostering provides safe and healthy environments for kittens in particular, as well as saving the lives of "neonate and peewee" kittens specifically.

The ASPCA also lists the following reasons why fostering cats is vital: cats living in a home receive more attention, fostered kittens are better sensitized to the world they'll be living in, fostering helps prevent further births of entire litters needing even more homes, fostering creates space in booming shelters, and fostering expands the pools of potential adopters.

For two and a half years now, Jen and Adrian Davis have been fostering for Best Friends Felines, a rescue organization "dedicated to rescuing cats and kittens from all over Brisbane and coastal areas."

Jen and Adrian have loved every moment of fostering since they became involved and enjoy providing care for cats and kittens until they're ready for their forever homes. Recently, they took in four kittens at once, offering all the love, care, and attention these precious ones could ask for in hopes that they'll be properly prepared for their own forever homes.

Named after characters from "Raya and the Last Dragon," the kittens have been dubbed Namaari, TukTuk, Boun, and Sisu.

Like all kittens before them and all the kittens yet to come, these four little rascals love to play and cuddle. Although it seems that Namaari, in particular, is prone to mischief—which is saying a lot about four kittens... kittens are notorious for mischief!

In an interview with The Dodo, Jen said:

“Namaari is the sweetest kitten, as the majority of our hand-raised babies are. You only have to look at her, and she melts into a puddle of purrs. She is also a bit of a drama queen—if her siblings play too rough, she is the first to cry.”

The kittens recently participated in a fundraiser for Best Friends Felines; they were all set to pose for photos in a calendar for the shelter. The exciting day also gave the kittens an opportunity to meet three families who were potential adopters!

It was an incredibly exciting and thus exhausting day for the kittens, who all promptly settled in for quite the nap afterward. The cuddle puddle, however, looked a little peculiar for one kitten...

Namaari had been curled up in the most peculiar position, and honestly, it looked pretty creepy! Like a headless kitten, actually. Jen and Adrian snapped a quick photo.

“This litter of kittens loves sleeping in odd positions, but this had to be one of the funniest ways Namaari has slept,” Davis said.

These experienced foster parents obviously know a good photo opportunity when they see one, because the silly-creepy photo was very much appreciated by Internet fans when they posted it. Naturally, of course.

When it comes to pet adoption, few experienced volunteers or experts would deny that the power of a photo can be a game changer. Cute photos that display personality are often the ultimate key in getting potential pets adopted quickly, and as we've seen many times, going viral doesn't hurt either.

Entertaining and silly, Namaari has already found her forever home, and when she's fully done being fostered, that's where she'll get to spend her life, surrounded by the love and happiness she deserves. We just love happy endings!
