Dumped Senior Dog Finds New Hope In Life After Getting Adopted By A Caring Family
As much as we don't want them to, dogs sadly grow old. Much like humans, they develop various illnesses, and they also start to weaken, resulting in reduced mobility.
That point in their lives is when they need us, humans, the most—to care for them, to love them, and to continue providing them with life experiences that they'll cherish. Their sunset years are the time when we should show them just how much we truly love them.
Sadly, some people simply don't have the temperament to care for such dogs. Perhaps it's due to the difficulty of adjusting to the dog's growing ailments, or maybe it's because they can't afford medical treatment for their pets. Unfortunately, there are individuals who would abandon their old and ailing dogs as if they weren't part of the family for a long time.
That is exactly what happened to this gentle giant right here. He was already an old pup and was also sick when his owners surrendered him to the shelter.
Fortunately, there he was able to meet a man who cared for him and reignited his love for life. Read on for the full story of this sweet pup.
This big old dog named Henry was already 16 years old and was deaf and blind in one eye when his owners surrendered him to the shelter. In addition to that, he also had testicular cancer.
The sad part is that his owners seemed relieved when they got rid of him. The unexpected abandonment by the people Henry thought would care for him left the dog scared and seemingly hopeless.

As it seems, due to the hopelessness the pup felt, his cancer deteriorated rapidly. His deafness and blindness also worsened his condition, and the consistent aches in his body prevented him from moving much.
When Zach Skow saw the old pup, he knew the pup's condition was bad and that he might have only a few weeks left, but Zach was still willing to offer the pup one last chance to enjoy life.

Zach took in Henry as a foster in the hopes of giving the pup some joy in his final days; however, an extraordinary and amazing change occurred in Henry as he spent more time with Zach and his doting family.
It seems that feeling the love of a family reignited Henry's love for life.

Little by little, Henry gathered the strength to walk to the yard. Then, his walks became gallops and jumps.
Seeing that encouraged Zach to get Henry the surgical treatment he needed to eliminate his cancer. After that, there was just no stopping Henry.
It was as if he were a little puppy again, exploring the world for the first time.
Zach believes that feeling loved by a family again has helped Henry's morale and recovery. Henry has now been adopted by a wonderful family who promised to do everything they can to give Henry a grand retirement during his sunset years.

Dogs deserve as much love and care as humans, especially in their golden years. That's when they need us most to ensure that they're still living the best life they can.
Hopefully, people won't just give up their pets simply because they're old and sick. Those dogs also deserve a chance to live out the rest of their days feeling loved and cared for.
Hopefully, too, that is what Henry is feeling now.
