Brave and Smart Shelter Dog Helps Rescue Kittens in Distress
Heroes have a sixth sense. They can feel when someone is in danger.
Moreover, they possess the intelligence and strength to help. Harvey, our sweet hero, has it all.
Harvey, an adorable mutt, was given to Faithful Friends Animal Society because his owners were divorcing and could no longer care for him. Since then, he has patiently waited for someone to adopt him.
After four years of silence, Harvey resolved to prove to the world that he is a good guy and a hero. He began to bark at a storm drain while out for a walk with one of the shelter's dog handlers.
They approached the sewer gently to get a better look and discovered a trapped kitten. The shelter's cat department arrived to assist in the rescue of the kitten but soon discovered that there were more trapped kittens.
The shelter shared the story on Facebook, stating, “With constant check-ins, the team was finally triumphant. Two weeks after the first kitten had been found, we were able to find two more and rescue them as well!”
Beta, Brie, and Brewster were the names given to the three ginger kittens. Harvey's keen senses and nose were just in time, as it rained for days after the kittens were rescued.
All three have been placed in loving foster homes and will be adopted soon.
But what about our hero? Well, you will just have to read the article to find out what happened :)
Harvey was on one of his walks with the shelter staff when he sensed something was wrong.

Harvey is still searching for his forever home. This sweet puppy enjoys playing ball and only needs patience as he adjusts to his new environment.
The shelter's Faithful Friends Sanctuary Care Program has taken care of this beautiful boy. This program helps animals that are more difficult to adopt due to terminal diseases, medical conditions, or behavioral issues.
“He would make a great agility dog, running or hiking partner. Harvey would also enjoy cuddling on the couch while watching TV. While he has dog friends his size at the shelter, Harvey would be best as the only pet,” says the shelter. How could anyone resist his smile?!
He and his handler approached the drain and found a trapped kitten. Soon, the shelter staff discovered two more.

For shelters and rescues, July is one of the busiest months of the year. These institutions frequently struggle to feed the animals as the stray population grows and more homeless dogs are taken in.
While awaiting adoption into their forever homes, a single rescue pet will require an average of 100 meals. National Feed a Rescue Pet Week aims to raise awareness of the need for shelters during this critical time, as well as to encourage support from animal advocates around the world.
GreaterGood is rising to the occasion with a goal of feeding 4 million homeless pets, but we can't accomplish it without your help!
So, is anyone out there looking to adopt a hero? Remember – adopt, don’t shop.
